Clinique - is it worth splashing out?

   Wed, August 22, 2007 - 4:23 PM
Has anyone ever tried clinique products??
I figured this would be a good place to ask this, as I'm sure you all have more experience in skincare than I do!
I'm looking for a new facial moisturiser and foundation and visited the clinique stand, and they have two products which do sound fabulous, but who knows if they'll do what they say on the tin? Theres the powder foundation, and also the super triple defense moisturiser to protect from just about everything you could possibly imagine.

Do I risk it and splash out the extortionate amount they are asking for it? Or would I be just as well off with a more affordable but equally effective brand like olay or something?

Sorry I'm a Clarins girl. Always been a fan of Nivea and Olay though...

I went through a phase of using clinique as lots of people said it would help my acne, but it didn't. I do use clinique make up though as I'm not allergic to it and they do colours that work with my skin tone (my skin colour is bizarrely difficult to match). I am really happy with their make-up, they give good coverage and last as well.

Their skincare products are not bad, but it is more expensive than bog standard cleansers and toners etc. I went back to Boots Botanics stuff once I was on roaccutane that I had used for years and get on well with, and I'm still happy with that. I use their sensitive/oily foaming cleanser, plain old rose water as a toner and their clear pore moisturisor and clear pore night cream. I do have a jar of their eye cream but to be honest it's not as good as the eye cream I used to use by Dermalogica, but the Dermalogica stuff was very expensve but used to last a long time, so I am tempted to go back to that.

You should be able to get samples from the clinique stand and because I buy clinique make up I have a draw full of miniature stuff if any of what you're thinking of is something I have a sample of you're welcome to try it before you buy.

Foundations
Thats very kind Kathryn - if I give you the names of the two products and you could maybe have a look to see whether you have them or not?
The foundations I was looking at are the superpower double face powder, and also the clarifying powder make up. However, if you did have any other samples of foundations, then I would happily try those out too!
I will have to try and get a sample of that moisturiser - I wasn't told you could do that.
