My Blog

I got to have the amazing experience of seeing Riverdance live at the Fox Theater. I totally splurged and took Ava and I on Wed, they say it is their last tour but it still took me a while to get up the nerve to blow all that money. Finally after tearing up when listening to Freedom on YouTube I just couldn't make any more excuses, I had to see the show live! It was totally worth it!!!!!! It took me until intermission to get over the fact that I was really seeing this live and not during some... read more

Here is my side piece I am slowly getting done. The pics aren't great but I am tired now that my adrenaline rush has gone...if you haven't had your ribs done you can't imagine the pain. The left pic is the front view and the fish is the back. You can see the portion up at the top where some of the purple stencil ink is still there, that is about an hours worth of work left to be done. There is still some other accents and such that aren't there yet but it will all be done soon.

It is full ... read more

raffle, we will select something you can collect long distance if an
out-of-towner's name is drawn! You can contribute to your own NPR or

What bliss! I just found a huge website dedicated to a gluten free diet www.bookofyum.com
While gluten isn't an issue with me it has plenty of wheat free recipes that I will be able to use and some good travel tips too. I am a bit nervous about going to the UK but I just read on that website that I may even be able to get a gluten free high tea at some of the more posh hotels...that is a bunch of yum

My Testimonials

October 24, 2006
Awalim is truly the southeasts premier tribal bellydance company. I've been dancing for about 10 years now in GA and I don't know of any dancer, tribal or cabaret, that hasn't been inspired in some way by Zi'ah.

What I've seen so far of Ziah's troupe, I'm amazed. This is a wonderful woman who is also a wonderful dancer. She's got the meanest hip locks I've ever seen! I got the pleasure of meeting this sweet woman in the SCA. I am hoping to learn dance from this woman!

I LOVE Zi'ah.

I met her at TribalCon this past spring, and while she wasn't teaching or performing at that time (she has just had baby Ava) I thought from the moment I met her that she is maybe the most SHINY person I have every met! She radiates joy, and when she dances she is like a BRILLIANT glowing light! When I grow up (as a dancer) I want to be just like her!

Just took a workshop with her in AThens GA and she is also a kick butt teacher! I am so envious of those in Atlanta who can study with her on a regular basis. Considering I live some 5 hours away from her, I will have to settle for occasional private lessons, and I am already trying to figure out a way to bring her down to Tallahassee for a workshop!

Zi'ah and her troupe have been very inspirational to me. Awalim was the first troupe I ever saw do Tribal choreography live (at the Atlanta Renfaire) and then Zi'ah was the first teacher I ever took a tribal workshop from. I went straight home afterwords and started working on how I was going to bring this wondrous thing called Tribal belly dance to Augusta. Of this spark, Alchemy, Augusta's first Tribal fusion belly dance troupe, was born and has been going strong ever since!

Zi'ah is a really dynamic, edgy performer, instructor and director. I love attending workshops that she teaches because I always feel like I have truly spent my time and money well. Her ability to break down movements, her knowledge of the history of the movements and her truly amazing ability to put together performances that are truly awe inspiring really set Zi'ah above and apart. I definately consider Zi'ah not only a friend but my teacher as well. I have gained so much understanding and insight for improving my technique and how to be a better director and instructor. As far as I'm concerned if Zi'ah teaches or endorses it... You can count on it. Thank you so much for playing a major part in the success of my performances and
that of my tribe. You are truly an amazing woman without your inspriration I don't know what I would have done!!!!! Your sister in Dance! Sherry of Gypsy Red Tribe, Birmingham, Alabama
