Illusion? Or real?
Wed, March 14, 2007 - 4:53 AMThis is another example of an amazing illusion!!! The last sentence is so true.
If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, the dots will remain only one color, pink.
However if you stare at the black ' + ' in the center, the moving dot turns to green.
Now, concentrate on the black ' + ' in the center of the picture. After a short period, all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will only see only a single green dot rotating.
It's amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don' t disappear. This shoul d be proof enough, we don't always see what we think we see.

Image, after image, and perception
That was so much fun. Here's another little experiment you can have with the impact of after images. Scroll the image up or down till you have just 3 pink dots on the screen. Don't focus on them but stare at the white space just above or below the gray background field (depending if you have scrolled up or down). After a while you will start to see both green and pink dots with the pink dots flashing on and off and the green dots being constant in the spaces between the pink dots. Scroll up or down until you have the full image onscreen (without looking a the cross in the middle). See how many you can get to co-exist in your perception. warning: doing this too long can give you a headache.
