My Birthday

I just celebrated my birthday.

It was a good time. My birthday was the seventh of November. I guess it's now technically the eighth at least in my time zone.

Which means that it is now the birthday of my friend with the tribe name of Origami.

I went out to vote which was boring, but kind of cool. I went and ate sushi which was great and I went to Tattered Cover which was also great. Then I went out to a cafe and walked around downtown.

It was a good fun for awesomeness.

I was happy to get birthday calls from some friends and relatives, but my brother didn't call me and he will now feel my wrath. When his birthday comes, I might just not call him.

Metered Parking in Front of Hospitals (In Denver)

I just wrote Mayor Hickenlooper a letter petitioning him to not meter parkings around hospitals on Saturdays.

The idea being that few people park near hospitals on saturdays anyway because there aren't any appointments. And those that do are often inpatients, patients family members and employees of the hospital. (People who need to park longer than meters allow)

Metering parking just pushes anybody that parks near the hospital into parking in surrounding neighborhoods and takes up parking there.

It makes sense to meter hospital parking during the weekdays when clinics are open because real money can be made and it keeps the parking spaces open for all of the temporary traffic, but on weekends, the scene is often of tons of empty meters that would be better used if people were allowed to park there for longer periods of time.

It would basically work on Saturday just like it does on Sunday now.

I mean, sure, in front of restaurants or what not, it makes sense to meter on Saturdays, but in front of hospitals??

And a lot of people that visit hospitals have trouble getting around (Whether they are handicapped or not).

If other people mail him or call him or whatever, I think it might be helpful.

The visitation of random Australian friends

A friend of mine is going to have an Australian friend visit Denver for Halloween. She's something like 19 years old, so she can't go out to drink.

Instead, they plan on taking her out to go trick or treating. And I plan to go along in my terrific halloween costume idea. Basically, I plan to buy safari type of clothes and then rip them up, throw in some fake blood and I will be a safari guy that was mauled by an angry tiger.

In December, I'll be showing an Australian fellow around Denver. I promised him much fun to be had and I expect that we should have some. I'm thinking that building a potato gun is in order. But I was thinking that throwing my own personal kegger might be interesting. I've never thrown one, but I could serve much ultra-style quality tea.
