They say every artist dips his brush in his own soul! That is what I see in your work. You have become a wonderful friend to me, and Ani you are Absolutely Fabulous and I adore you!

Ani's spirit embodies the core of bardry... her poetry is personal and unique in inspiration and style, and at the same time universally accessable and meaningful. Her easy touch with language and unassuming innocence in her words belies the complexity of rhythm and layered metaphor. There is much for me to learn in the reading here.

Awen, my friend. Thank you for your words.

Hello Ani,
Just a few words that I would like to say to you Sweet Lady. You are a gentle Kind Hearted Soul that I am glad to call friend. Someone that I can talk to about things and not be ridiculed. Someone that makes me feel at ease, someone that I can laugh with. I call you more than friend....you are Family!
All is well, Love bard

I only recently met Ani on Tribe, but am touched by her connection to her ancestors and how she honors them. I am also impressed by the love she shows her living family, and how each member has been gifted with the planting of a symbolic tree, rooting each soul firmly into the land. I loved learning about her journeys, and appreciate her sharing such beautiful travel pictures and unique artwork. I hope to get to know Ani better, and continue to share!

Winter Sun

Morning sun enshrouded;
Misty fog's halo blots her warmth and light,
clouds obscuring all in wispy flight.

crisply, cold-gray fingers cling

FREY

Calling winds speak your name,
under trees where calm remains.
Never-ending potent power,
earth, air, water and fire.
Dancing sun in the bower
defines each and every hour;
Your electric energy,
is the eternal flame.

HE

Still silhouette against the moonlit sky,
outlined in the green of summer,
Branches spread in silver splendour
turn with movement of a noble head.

Heart throbs echo in the voice
of a steady drum,
so sweetly sings the hum.
The whoosh of wings fills the air;
the owl speaks her mind there
beneath the sparkling stars.

Still silhouette against the moonlit sky,
outlined in the green of summer.
Branches spread in silver splendour
turn with movement of a noble head.

Signals of the heart are given.
Eye to eye and hand to hand.
Our dance began;
The essence of your mystery,
evolving from earth’s history,
fill my rainbow-self.

Still silhouette against the moonlit sky,
outlined in the green of summer.
Branches spread in silver splendour
turn with movement of a noble head.

Moments confident this sacred gift,
Entrusting my heart to your intent,
with each word, new meaning leant.
Sweet lips that breathe this air,
bring moments without care,
insistent with our desire.

Still silhouette against the moonlit sky,
outlined in the green of summer.
Branches spread in silver splendour
turning with movement of a noble head.

Dawn awakens yet another day,
to landscape green and gold,
where lovers within arms hold
in warmth of tender care.
Tenuous fingers lingering there,
slip silently apart.

Still, He is against the morning sky,
outlined in the green of summer.
Antlers branch in bony crown
turning with the noble head.

Upon summer flowers his feet pass.
Softly, He turns and walks away,
with squirrel, wily fox,and fae.
Twinkling lights of magick lingers now
As all nature seems to bow
in awestruck time suspended.

Still, He is against the morning sky,
outlined in the green of summer.
Antlers branch in bony crown
turning with the noble head.

ADDICTION

Is there an antidote
to this intoxication?

Addiction...
Drums pound within me
vibrating the strings
of my soul.
Addiction...
Sweet, golden mead,
honey scented
through my nostrils,
fire-flamed, speads
through my veins.
Addiction ...
Is there no antidote?
Is there no antidote
for this intoxication?
Feel the vibrations
of the harp strings...
How your thoughts and spirit
spin rainbow threads,
of history and Lore.
Of history and Lore...
Sweet, golden mead,
fiery-tongued softness spreads
within me. Runes blinking
in and out, in and out,
of the coils of eternity,
to each given a
unique meaning.
Addiction...
The drums pound within me
vibrating the strings of my soul.
Sticks and stones,
cannot speak for my bones
in Hel's dark realm.
Is there an antidote
for this addiction?
Is there an antidote
for this intoxication?

PSALTERY I

I will not tell you, yet again,
if you cannot hear my voice,
how my heart feels.
How my heart feels,
dancing like spiraling
incense upon the air.
You and I speak
different languages;
The love is there,
whether you take it
or leave it,
this is up to you
Deare Friend.

Time is spinning out;
too old for games
too old for games
of thoughtlessness.
Sharing is the gift;
a joyous moment
like the warmth
of sun on the skin.
Acceptance is a choice
and denial a cold wind.

The warp and weft
weaves life energy,
shimmering as strands
of the psaltery.
Each string
resonates with sound,
echoing, echoing all around.

Do I need you?

No.........

To cherish is not of need,
not like 'fast-food'
stuffed into the mouth,
un-chewed.
To please, Deare Muse,
harmony and song
unite the strands of time.
The love is there,
whether you take it
or leave it
is up to you.

Fickle Spring

Another spring has come.
Long awaited through the bitter, freezing wind.
My toes seem always to be cold
from October to May. I must remember
to wear socks, but I long to be barefoot.
March.... Dark, swiftly moving clouds
have often blotted warming light
whilst playing peek-a-boo with the sun.
This fickle spring brought hail pellets
and an Arctic wind, with bits of warmth,
as the Ice Queen struggled to remain in control.
My garden has seemed to be as chilled
as I have been, and slow to trust this new year.

Green haze of the coming bluebells
has slowly spread across the edge
of the tilting cinderblock fence.
As I wash the dishes,
white, green and pale blue vegetation
are my Monet, framed by the kitchen window.
The grapevines, seeming to be dead,
bud tiny groups of fuzzy leaves,
pale pink and celadon green
against the browned vine. There is hope.
Yesterday, I plunged my fingers into the earth.
The seeds are sown.
Can summer come soon enough?

It has been a while since I have posted here..... but I have not been able to find a job since losing my job from Widevine IT Security last September. I join many people who are not on unemployment. Despite a good education and mental skills, it is still a challenge for all of us who are in similar situations. The message to me is that creativity is what must happen - creating my own employment. The tree was up days ago - as tradition, picked by my eldest daughter and myself. Many of my friends eschew trees as being wasteful - but .. our family loves bringing that piece of greenery into the house. Piece by piece we decorated the tree with memories - ornaments from my childhood, ornaments made by our children, silver ornaments from my mother in law for the children. The little lit plastic church from my father's mother when I was a child, the creche scene I sculpted when our son (f... read more

Time is flying by quickly at times - and yet slowly when there are tasks like sorting through the household and tossing junk, old junk mail.
Our children will all be home for Christmas. What a blessed time it will be. The garland is hung around the living room coved ceiling. Ah yes! Pagasys played another gig and Keeper of the Well was played to a receptive audience, which asked for an encore. It was a fundraiser event for the small Druidic Gorsedd of Caer Pugetia. Seems like the Seattle Parks Dept has decided to raise the rates for the event rentals in the park spaces to a horrific fee - something hard for a group with no real money! Hmmm... we raised a bit towards those fees.

Along the way there was this beautiful person with lovely green eyes who walked... read more

The last few weeks have been busy with painting a wall for friends...a lovely forest with animals, and rehearsing with the band Pagasys. There is a wonderful new piece of work to honor the Goddess Brigid which we will perform next Saturday for a friend's birthday party. Somehow I got recruited - so I play the keyboard making bell sounds and singing in the chorus. Hmmmm... it is harder than it looks to sing and play at the same time. I am learning.

This is the first day of the future.... Our country has finally crossed a threshold to elect Obama. It is a monumental shift in our country, thankfully. We have elected someone who represents the cross section of our American people. There were many factors involved, but I truly believe that the fear and concerns about the economy were a last straw. But Obama also brought his charisma and intellect and the willingness to reach out and draw people together. Why did it take so long? Now wil... read more
