just a quick note to say that i'll be playing the opening downtempo set at Qool (111 minna) from 5 - 6PM on wednesday, November 7, and then i'll be playing later at the W hotel from 8:30 - 11 PM (at 3rd and howard streets). both sets are free and are within two block of each other. you could make a night of it! hope to see you out there. peace, traffic

burningman miracle

so i wasn't planning on going to burningman this year. i didn't buy a ticket when the early entry tickets went on sale. up until recently i wasn't planning on going. but now... well, i think i need to go. but in order to make it happen i need to find one of those lower priced tickets. does anyone have an extra one i could buy or trade something for? i'm really not sure how it's all going to come together. my transportation will need to get figured out too! but i'm gonna see if i can manifest some miracles. any ideas?

So I'll be playing a couple of happy hour sets this week! I'm very excited to say that I've just scored a few gigs at the W Hotel (on Third and Howard Streets). I'll be playing on Wednesday the 13th from 6-8:30. There are lots of places to chill. Good drinks. Good vibe. And what's a set at the W without a little dub? Then on Thursday, I'll be playing at the Air Lounge in Oakland (9th and Washington). I'm either on at 5 or at 6. I'll let you know! This is a great bar and it's only 3 blocks from BART. It'll be great to see you!

i know this comes as kind of late notice, but i thought i'd post this anyway! i just joined ambi-sonic a dj collective here in san francisco. we play a really wide range of music that can be described as ambient, chill, downtempo, midtempo, uptempo (even!), and anything else you can use to describe music that although may be danceable is not necessarily the primary focus. so in honor of my joining, ambi-sonic is throwing a party with one of the world's best known chillout djs, mixmaster morris! WELL... errrrr umm….., actually i've joined just in time for ambi-sonic's three year anniversary. it's going to be a lot of fun and it's only $5! you can't be that! i play from 9 to 10:30 and at 10:00 i'll be joined by the other members of my band, UPPTEKA. uppteka mixes dj pyrotechincs with the amazing vocalizing of four very talented singers and poets (m. mara-ann, samaki dorsey, therese davis and jill shaw). hey everyone: i'll be playing this saturday at a new monthly chillout party called SUBmerge. Asha and the lovely folks at ambisonic are putting this together. come check us out! i'm on from 12AM - 2AM in the ambient downstairs area. peace, traffic details: *********** SUBmerge is a monthly downtempo, chill and ambient music party featuring local artists and DJs. i just finished playing a three hour (!) set for ambi-sonic radio. whew! despite the fact that one of my cdj's was freaking out and was inconsistently registering the cd's i was trying to load, i think it went really well. i believe the set will be up on the ambi-sonic web site soon, so if you're interested, you all can download it and check it out (www.ambi-sonic.com/). thanks mykl and the ambisonic crew for inviting me to play!

sf ferry building -- thursday 9-15

just wanted to let you all know that i will be playing some ambient and very chill music in the cavernous halls of the ferry building this thursday (9/15) from about 5PM to around 8:30. this is an experiment. and the guy in charge has given me some guidelines for "not upsetting the merchants or the buyers" or whatever, but has given me a lot of freedom to do what i want on the chill tip. i've always wanted to play in a building like this -- a space that offers a lot of echo in the acoustics. so come on down. listen. buy a latte if you want. or flowers. or dinner. or organic produce. or just come and hang. i sure would love the company. peace, traffic

this year at burningman, i'd love to dj at some chill spaces--i'm thinking of this as part of my "gift" to the community this year. i'd also love to spend more time chillin' in them too. does anyone have recommendations for either dj slots (who to contact) or just good old fashioned chill zones to be groovin on the d-lo? are you spinning? where? when? i wanna come see you!
