SAKURASAKU

   Thu, February 19, 2009 - 8:14 AM
I will be showing my ceramic art and luminescent, mixed-media sculptures in a collaborative exhibition with flower arrangement artist, Nichimasa Toizumi, a Kadou-nippoukoryu master. The installation, "SAKURASAKU-spirit blossom", will be held in Harajuku, Tokyo on March 5 to the 8.

'Sakura' means cherry blossoms, & 'saku' means to blossom.
You may already know that the cherry blossoms are highly praised for their beauty & grace within the deepest roots of Japanese culture. Cherry blossoms are symbolic for new beginnings and historically have hosted festive gatherings beneath them where the people originally offered o-sake to the Gods of good fortune before the sowing of seeds for the new years crops. Their nature and presence reminds us of the fragility of our passing existence here on Earth.

Our lives will not last.
Let your spirit blossom!

This will be a festive exhibition.
If any of you are anywhere near, please come and enjoy the flowers!
