Remembering John Lennon
This is one of the more important days on the calendar for me. It was 27 years ago today that John Lennon was assassinated. I can still remember that morning clearly. I was sick in bed with a rather vicious bout of the flu. Obviously, I wasn't going to school that day. I was still asleep when Swain woke me up with the words, "John Lennon is dead. He's been shot." Today it will have been twenty years since my father's death. It was on October 16, 1987 that my father passed from this world.

I realise that I am probably biased, but I have always regarded my father as a most remarkable man. He never went beyond the 8th grade in school, yet he was one of the most intelligent men I ever knew.
