man- estate

Rachel is my proffesor of Hip- Hop. Tonight inspired by something she said, I turned my blog over to her and she wrote "Hip hop is the new rock'n'roll, which was the new jazz. However, hip hop is different in that it has been stigmatized by the 'crack music' image that is so particular to the black ghettos of the post-reagan era. Whereas both rock-n-roll and jazz sparked necessary cross-cultural awakenings, hip hop has been co-opted and so dehumanized by the mainstream meida that it perpetuates, rather than dissolves racial divisions and wealth disparities. Hip hop has been so bastardized by the upper strata of society that most Americans, particularly those born before the Reagan era, don't even consider the possibility of hip hop as a true art form. Hip hop, more than any other cultural force today, has the power to inspire a much-needed revolution-- we just need to reclaim it. "

We were listening to Baby Chams " Babylon Bwoy" and she refered to a man she had worked with, and so was never able to act on her attraction for. He was the Hip Hop buyer for one of the major record stores in the Bay Area. And she said , " Boy that was a missed piece of man-estate." I thought that was funny. Has anyone heard this expression before?

Hip My Hop...
Well ...from what I no of about Hip Hop...which could fit almost on the head of a pin is You certainly seem correct... Though not a devotee of it's history, or its major player's I have from a periferal prespective notice change... good or bad I could not say...
I personally have enjoyed many a Hip Hip Melody for lack of a better term... As I do really dig the dance moves etc...and as I said I have moved to the beats of a number of tune's... Just don't ask me to name them...LOL... Its like listening to Classical Music...on NPR and they give you some title like that waz Bach Symphony No. 5 in B flat for Piano...by the Greman Philharmonic...with accompaniment by "who ever" and conducted by... and I'm going geez if I only had a pen or voice recorder that I could actually use...LOL... I might stand a better chance than a snow ball in hell remembering WTF the title waz or WTF it waz... It suffices to say for me that on the simplest level I could relate to the beat, the moves, the story line... and it made me smile put some peep in my step and some glide in my stride... And not alllll of us born prior to the Reagn Era are mired by convention or our cornology in years... And hope it is Ok to eaves drop as it might be on some Hip Hop beats that play to our souls... And by the way stay cool and keep on do'n what cha love... I may have been born yesterday...butt my arse is in the hear and now and open to all possiblities...

Jaymes, or James, or Redman, (if Latino) the O'la Colorodo...
