My Blog

I finally caught it. All year, I have been avidly avoiding the flu. But, my number finally got pulled. This is a bad one this year. Happily, I can say that I am in really good spirits, and (or maybe because) I have chosen to eschew the usual cocktail of chemicals in favor of echinacea, vitamins, and a TON of water. So far, the battle is a draw. I'm hoping the immune system will kick in and carry the day. I managed to work all weekend without issue, and hope the trend continues because I have... read more

She had a knife, and a glass of water. The liquid sploshed uneasily in hands shaking with anger. Stray locks of hair dangled down, covering her rounded face and half-concealing hazel, darting eyes. That terrible grimace she wore, lips pulled back in a caricature of a smile made me hesitate to make a sound, lest it be the one that would unleash the coiled fury inside of her.

Which is good becasue I have to find the time (and money) between now and the end of March to get her on the track for testing. Today, I installed the overflow can which catches fluids from either the tank or the radiato... read more

I love my motorcycles. I feed them and pet them and talk to them and keep them covered and warm during winter. Sometimes, though, I have to work on them. And that's cool cuz it's almost a meditative excecise for me... you know, I get mad, throw wrenches, and then have to sit cross-legged and do deep breathing... Seriously, I hate working on vehicles, but with my bikes I can manage to work for hours (my personal record is 32 hours non-stop) and be quite content.

The reason this comes up is... read more

Seems like after making the decision to go to Burning Man in 2007, I have become aware of how MANY people seem to have already gone, know someone who has gone, plans to go, or has always wanted to go. Until recently, NONE of these folks are people I really know. I mean, it was whispered in the teacher's lounge that Ms. X (you know, the quintessential art teacher with the purple highlights in her hair and the love of 'questionable art pieces' - usually involving phalluses) was 'one of them Bur... read more
