Day 11
Spent most of the day on a bus to Merida. Watched The Illusionist (fantastic movie) and a truly depressing movie about alleged sexual abuse of children and accidental drownings. Seriously, I did not want to watch this movie. But the volume was on so loud that I couldn´t hear anything else and we were all stuck watching it and gradually growing more miserable. Fortunately, a comedy came on afterwards, but still, I am sick of buses.

Ok, trying to remember...

Day 7
We took a night bus to San Cristobal, arrived in the morning, and explored the very touristy city streets. Went to San Juan Chamula, one of the villages not far from San Cristobal. It is a much poorer area, more characteristic of life in Chiapas. A few people I was with saw a chicken sacrifice at the local church. It was the first church I went to that wasn´t filled with ridiculous amounts of gold.

We went on our first guided tour from Oaxaca, which costs more money, but was worth it in this case because the sites we visited were very far apart (and reminescent of driving the last few miles to fuente)

We went to visit the fattest tree in the world (not the tallest or oldest, but the fattest) It was the coolest swiss family robinson like climbing tree I´ve seen. And it was gated. Must find a way around this...
