about me
I am a 54 year old (bred and born) Utah male that grew up watching Belly Dancing (Cabaret style) while going to Greek restaurants in Salt Lake as a teenager (The Athenian and Grecian Gardens). Later in life I became aquainted with other dancers such as Yasmina and Roque when we were all 20 somethings living in Salt Lake.
I have been with Desert Veils (Southeastern Utah's only professional Belly Dance Troupe) since 2001. Through the years I have worn many hats: sound guy, sound manager, dance critique, manager, and most recently stage manager. Anyone who has been to the Moab Drum and Dance Festivals knows me. I am the guy that made sure you were on stage at the right time.
During the last 30 years I have sat on the sidelines while many dancers have been part of my life. Frankly, I just love dancers. I have become much more involved with belly dancing in Moab by acting as the Stage Manager, Sound Manager, and oftentimes just plain friend to the Desert Veils, as well as other belly dancers.
While cabaret may excite some men, Tribal dance is much more exciting to this red blooded American male.
Yes, I may seem misogynistic to people who like hefty, beefy women. I am sorry I am male, I am 5'9", weigh 150 lbs. and I like women who are within my wrestling class. Robust women, especially beefy belly dancers, are just not my cup of tea. But I am accepting of everone.
I just feel sorry for people whose weight is not proportional to their height. I want to help them become more healty.
If I offend you. I am sorry. But at least I am honest.
