SageBrush Clippings
Thu, March 27, 2008 - 10:02 AMit's ridiculous really that there are so many businesses and schools named after this plant
though not one sells it in las vegas
totally impossible
anyhow so I found it during a hike
it's a bit woodsier than the Sagebrush from New Mexico which had more of a fruity smell
but it's lovely nonetheless
honestly an incense batch with out sagebrush just isn't right
anyhoo it was a journey but I'm glad I have my score
here's some extra info
SageBrush is not a "sage" family it is actually a wormwood like mugwort
i.e. Artemesia Tridentata (ain't that purty?)
it is the state plant in NV and Flower (the yellow Variety)
It is a wonderful Smudge for cleansing and other ceremonial ritual needs
It feels feminine but it is definitely a male masculine plant
They like to grow in clusters
They appear in a field to be silverish
they are camphorous and have medicinal qualities
certain creatures like sage-grouse (an adorable bird)
depend on vast expanses of Sagebrush that are undisturbed for their ecosystem
they are also considered to be apart of the Sunflower family
can be used in culinary dishes like sage
