at Vipassana meditation retreats (2). now, 10 days without FOOD! tomorrow. i am about to embark on a first. my first 'master cleanse'. 10 days on nothing but lemonade (lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne and water to be exact). it's kind of scarey but after talking to a friend who did this for 29 days, i feel confident i can maintain for 10. have to admit it sounds kind of extreme (coming from a strict vegan, that's saying alot!) but what have i got to lose? a few pounds, loads of stored toxin... read more

how does this happen???
example: clean ice tray exits dishwasher, gets filled with brita water, then enters freezer. water in said tray freezes, then gets used in fresh brita filtered water. ice starts to melt and clean, fresh brita water has mysterious "floaties" in it. WHERE DO THE FLOATIES COME FROM??? i have pondered this for months. can someone shed some light on dirty ice???

that's right, i made my way to new world vegetarian in oakland this evening.......and just what did i see being placed in front of me, after my wonderful meal? VEGAN FLAN!!!! just as silky and good as i remembered it. complete with four tiny star-shaped pillows of vegan whipped topping, sitting in a pool of caramel sauce. i almost cried. hee hee. my only regret is not taking a picture of it to share with you. i guess i'll just have to go back and order it again!

vegan flan from new world vegetarian, oakland. i have missed you so much! your silky, creamy, goodness laying in a pool of wonderful caramel. *tear*
