about me
A pulsation. Nine lives lost upon the sheer flesh of creativity. I gaze into the hollowed eyes of a suburban nightmare and leave it to the dusty tongues of lawn lizards.

grandpa. Today I am reminded of you. It came in a great wave as I tried to blow out scales on the saxophone. I stifled sorrow I didn't know I had. Grandpa. I remember you--pilot, captain of a river boat, smoky bar room jazz player. You used to talk about, as you termed it, "the rock fifties". I would watch you carefully hold that instrument which had become your one true love--the only constant in your rocky life. Grandpa. As a kid, I would watch you pack the sax in its case and ask you if I ... read more

On King did it again. Bass Necter played and bubbled the music across writhing bodies--wet and intimate. This little slice of gathering was balm for the soul. Too much KavaKava though...
Yesterday, I saw whales propelling themselves out of the water, slapping it with large white-dappled fins. A mama and a baby did this for hours as I sipped coffee and watched them--sneaking peaks through the binoculars. The day was yellow and ablaze over the water;soft waves swiped the shore. Q and I went fo... read more

within the musty darkness of an art deco theater costumes glinted and shimmied across the fluttering of my eyelids. A soft beat turns into a throb which echoes in tantric ebbs across the shuddering of my dancing body. Move to the coolness of the window and let the wetness of rain run over fingertips--stop and smile at a new friend who turns my tongue and lavish squeezes upon my flesh, which harbors itself under the gold of the cloth. Back at Kalani we find ourselves gazing upward towards the ... read more

During this break I have been baking up a storm! Imagine--me who used to burn water can now make mouthwatering treats. Anyway, here are two recipes that I just can't get enough of:
grandpa's apple pie (modified for vegan)

crust:
11/2 cup flour
3/4 cup shortening(I use smart balance)
1/2 tsp nacl
1/4 cup cold water

cut flour, nacl and shortening with a fork until it is coarse and looks like meal. Add water and mix until it forms a ball. Roll out half of crust on a floured surface to... read more

Slick blue waves crest over tadpole swimmers as i sit on the beach and bask in the UV. Another Christmas, another day strutting its hour on stage until the curtain wraps it in twilight. The other night Q and I went to a wonderful gathering at a small art studio in Honolulu/chinatown and shared ritual dance experience with a great group of people. There was live drummers and a Dig player--reminiscent of SF and Chico gatherings I have been to in the past. Oddly, some of the people populating th... read more
