Joe Rey Director/Production Designer

Director Joe Rey was raised in Camden, New Jersey where his mom additionally housed 100 cats, 8 dogs, a glass tub of guinea pigs and a homing pigeon named Mr. B.
Sacred Heart is the local Roman Catholic church where Joe Rey, his older brother Tony and little sister Helena Rey participated as alter servers and in the seasonal Passion Plays.
This quirky lifestyle induced lots of creativity into the mind of Joe Rey. Attending the art institute of Philadelphia on forged financial aid papers, working as carpenters apprentice @ The Walnut Street Theatre and he became a window display dresser for the late Bonwit Teller / Strawbridge & Clothier.
Within two years young Rey (18) designs Philadelphia’s newest sound studios & production design shop with local Magician Stuart Levy. “Metropolis Studios” was hired by Lionel C. Martin and young Hype Williams, to Production Design music videos for Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown, Toni Braxton, etc.
Commercials were helmed by Joe Rey as production designer for numerous spots and projects. Clients included SBK pictures, Cigna Insurance, Smith Kline, AT&T simultaneously servicing movie art departments for “Mannequin on the Move”, “Rocky V”, “Philadelphia”, “Age of Innocence”, and “Twelve Monkeys”.
After six years Joe Rey started own production design firm for the film industry A.C.M.E. art department. (art department for commercials music videos etc.)
Joe Rey went on to a15 year design and directing career specializing in commercials and music videos. Joe Rey has accomplished membership with the Directors guild of America and Los Angeles Production designers local 829.

Joe Rey has co directed with A list directors, including Joseph Kahn, Bob Giraldi, Marcus Nispel, and Fatima Robinson

Joe Rey, is a film company maverick, who shot his first spot, an anti-smoking public service announcement for tobacco manufacturer Philip Morris.
Rey joined Original Films after working on several music videos with RSA director Marcus Nispel as a production/set designer. While operating his A.C.M.E art department, Rey collaborated with director Joseph Khan. Shortly thereafter, Rey began directing music videos, eventually shooting for Bryan Adams, Mr. Vegas, Backstreet Boys , KC & Jo Jo. Leann Rimes, Courtney Love, Ricky Martin, and Angela Via
