i hemmed up the bottoms using a simple decorative stitch.

so now that the elastic is through, pin the ends together ASAP or you'll lose them inside!! make sure it's not twisted up inside the casing. Now try on the pants, pull the elastic as tight as you need it and mark off with a pen leaving an inch to sew together flat.

if you are using a drawstring, now is the time to push it through the casing and pull the ends trough the grommets in the front of your pants.

I've serged the elastic casing to the pants leaving about 2" open in the back like i showed you. now i'm using my super high-tech mangled coat hanger and a safety pin to shove the elastic through the casing.
