<div>it’s about finding balance and not letting negative thoughts consume your being. if there’s one thing i’m learning it’s how to be half-full now—at all times regardless of circumstance. that is the ultimate mindset i strive for. it’s important though to recognize feelings of anger, sadness, and discomfort. being able to express to people that you are bummed rather than being passive aggressive or a debbie downer about it is important too.

keeping an open heart and mind is hard. how many times has your heart been broken? 4, 5, 6? 6 times? well maybe it’s time to reevaluate your open heart policy. time to amend the policy. keep it open, but be careful. be careful and mindful of other peoples hearts.

there are so many things to fall in love with that will not crush your spirit. for me those are reggae, hula hooping, social networking, creative endeavors, and dance. those keep me grounded and help re-generate my fractured heart.

in the grand scheme of things, i have everything i have ever wanted or needed. the things i dream are reachable, and this makes me lucky. the things i want to be i can be. so rather than focus on the negative spaces in my life, the things i perceive i don’t have, it’s time to focus on the positive, all the opportunities i have been given. for gosh sakes i’m the luckiest person in the whole world and i need to be thankful for everything i have and will have. </div>

&amp;

In my dreams we run to far off lands.

I could sip tea with you all morning long.

&amp;

And lay in your arms till sunrise.

I could love you Spring forever.

&amp;

Never long for another season.

yesterday i saw a boy with a gun

<div>i'm still pretty weirded out frankly. yesterday i was going about my own business, riding my bike to REI from Hawthorne--which takes me through downtown--i was getting overheated since before that I was coming from sellwood and before that coming from NE so i decided it was time to get something to drink and take a 2 min break. I decided to stop at this corner store called "Ma &amp; Pa's." it looked a little sketchy with some of the folk standing outside but most of them seems like they were harmless. so i get off my bike and walk it to bike rack on the northeast corner of the block. it was then i noticed a strange looking boy, he was wearing a "fencing mask" but not really mostly just had wiring over his face. my mother is a psychologist and over the years has taught me how to deal with situations in which you encounter a mentally ill person. my gut instinct was to avert my eyes and not look at this fellow. what what i saw at first he was a boy no older than myself (22) holding a bunch of magazines which read "art form" or something like that. he was squirmish and could not stand still, shifting his weight left-then right then left again. i was not getting a good felling about this person , but figured as long as I did not stare at him I should be okay. so as i was about the turn the key on my bike lock, I happened to look up, as I had noticed some shift in movement. the first thing i noticed were his legs, skinny unsure about standing, then i noticed his magazines in his right arm---i looked to his left side, he put a gun in his pocket. scared confused and only able to react in one of two ways, fight or flight, i decided to quickly but calmly unlock my bike and ride away. SCARY! i have never seen anything like it--i never even seen a real gun frankly! i'm having a really hard time grasping the whole situation. </div>

<div>"Popular opinions, on subjects not palpable to sense, are often true,
but seldom or never the whole truth. They are a part of the truth,
sometimes a greater, sometimes a smaller part, but exaggerated,
distorted, and disjointed from the truths, bursting the bonds which
kept them down, and either seeking reconciliation with the truth
contained in the common opinion, or fronting it as enemies, and
setting themselves up, with similar exclusiveness, as the whole
truth."
