What? How could Utah, Bend and Burning Man have anything in common? Well, ok, the first connection has to do with, you got it, playing outside, or in this case, SKIING. The signs were everywhere. The DJ on the radio was projecting the snow level to drop to 3500'. When around town, I'd see the occasional clup of snow in the road, melted off of some car that had been up to the mountain. I heard people talking about it at my house warming party. They said they'd been to Bachelor and seen a foot of snow. My eyes lit up with joy. I had to go see for myself. I have arrived! And, I love it. I've only been here a week and I've met so many people I have a hard time remembering their names. I've been either playing ultimate frisbee, disc golf or mountain biking, daily. And, this week I have lots planned between Iyengar yoga, Bonnie Raitt, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe and a new ski flick. And, I'm getting close to finding a rental. And, and, and...did I say I love it here.

I'm changing my job - leaving the classroom and beginning my new career as an education consultant for language learners. I'm also relocating. I've wanted to move back to a town in the high desert where I can find good outdoor recreation (skiing, mtn. biking, hiking, mountain lakes, rivers). I also want to be near progressive, young people to stimulate my creative, green and spiritual soul. And, I think I've found a place to do this... read more
