Becoming to BC

I will be at Water Woman, sharing some new skills for a Unity Consciousness Workshop and performing my water woman story in a dance theatre form...bringing my momma up with me too and excited to be in my homeland...then wil also be at SHAMBHALA! I have been having a deep self exploration time in Hong Kong and loving being married to Hoi Chiu, creating every day, teaching, performing, travelling/touring internationally and being loved and giving love. I have greatitude. connecting with my roots this winter

Well, i am off to Toronto on saturday with hoi chiu for a family christmas (15 hr flight from HK). In 1975, my parents left their hippy commune in Ontario and drove across canada in their VW van to BC to have me in a new and beautiful land... Now, I am going to be meeting my grandma, on my mom's side, again after 8 years and meeting my dad's side of the family for the first time since i was 5!!!! I will be introducing Hoi Chiu, my husband, to everyone and i am excited!!! Winter: a time to go deep, reflect, forgive, move forward with trust and acceptance...may all of your winter solstice celebrations be JOYFULL and remember we are all ONE. I will be seeing ya, my BC KIN, next summer- plan on visiting all of AUGUST....we will dance under the stars and maybe do some creation/performance together too...keep in touch with me, if you want to initiate something fun together!!! peace, maggie blue

Dear friends all over the world, Sitting at my messy desk, getting ready to move to a place further out of the city, we'll be living a five min. bike ride from the ocean and can get fresh seafood and BBQ in our garden front patio. We'll be on the ground floor of a three floor village house, the air is fresh and the sound of crickets at night calm the mind. we're in our messy, land of boxes at the moment, which will soon pass. We are both very busy with many different jobs happening at once. So the challenge of moving on top ov everything is a challenge to rise to the occasion for. We are: - touring 40 high schools with our new show King of Time -both choreographers for an Urban, site specific dance festival -creating a new literacy/environmental pop-up book "storytelling and storybook making" performance/workshop -in November we're off to Shang Hai to perform YuYu MiMi in China! and moving to a better place... Hoi Chiu and I just had our 1st year wedding anniversary too. All is well, we are in love, communicating clearly, i'm doing my yoga classes as much as possible to keep me grounded, calm and have personal time. Starting to meet some more ladies too, which is needed for the sistar vibes to keep strong. I sometimes miss the equinox circles and am finally meeting some women who also feel drawn to connect on those days... help with a law issue

i went to yoga today and then after my class they told me that their manager had been fired and that one third of their clients had not been having their monthly money taken out of their accounts- it was just realized now- and now they tell me, they hadn't been taking the monthly membership of $549.00 HK out of my account every month- as i'd thought they were- and you know me, i didn't notice they wern't taking it, i just assumed they were- and NOW they say they need me to pay the last ten months all at once- which is $HK 5,490.00- which is too much for me to pay all at once and it's THEIR fault for not being organized and getting their money the way i had agreed to- which was monthly- what should i do? one of the yoga teachers said that people are leaving the studio and not paying, others are paying in full. perhaps i could just pay them in 5 chunks of 1,000 or so. I wish i knew a lawyer i could ask about this...any advice? thanks, blue

Bali is gorgeous! lush warm heat exudes every inch. tropical fruit, lovely smiles, open hearts, ancient culture, temples of psychedelic lore, tempeh gado gado-mmmm, friends from around the globe seem to all reconnect here. Friends and new kin are here in the jungle and also down an hour's drive into the bigger city Seminyak/Kuta. Candy Curly pawpaw and me have rented a house in the neighborhood called Penestanen in Ubud. We have a house to ourselves and Tarran and Nayanna are in a house right beside us. Other california friends Juniper and Buddhamonkey are right beside us as well in another home that is "Epic"- the word of the month it seems in Bali-with a lovely pool and loungey areas. Candy and I enjoyed the past three days at a southern beach called Dreamland. Surfer's paradise with turquoise waters. We rose for the dawn and walked on the beach exploring the rock formations and tidal pools, then yoga sessions up on the veranda of our bungalow, fruit salads...lots of suntanning and swimming in the crazy strong waves- bikini eating waves actually..almost ripped the bottoms right off a' me! I am riding a moped!!! and loving it...feeling freedom and independance. I have gratidtude and trust in life and am thankful for this time with the ladies to unwind after my HK YuYu MiMi show. relaxing, undwinding, day spas with honey and lime massages..i know it's been rough. thought i'd share the goodness with y'all loving you and i'll be home in HK by aprl 24th. peace out. maggie blue

turning 32 on MArch 16!

so, it's becoming more clear. I am in my 30's now. WOW. When I was 18 It seemed sooo far away to be thirty. Back then, I thought I'd be famous, rich and starring in movies by now. But actually, my reality, as it is, is pretty good too and i'm realizing that aknowledgement and appreciation from my professional peers is much better than being hugely famous...as that takes all of our personal privacy away. And I enjoy being a shapeshifter, chameleon, ninja, stealthily moving like a panther through the crowds. I am giving thanks ,and you are my witnesses, for an amazing journey this time 'round on earth. My lessons have been to be honest with my feelings, be gentle and not push too hard, forgiveness is nessesary for our hearts to heal, let love in...the lessons keep coming! As Shiela Chandra says in her song: Love is an ocean, the ocean refuses no river. As long as we keep eating in a balanced way, keep fit by excercising whether it's yoga, the gym, swimming or dancing etc... enjoy life and keep it humble and grounded yet majical and blissful...our age will rise gracefully with no resistance. May I embrace change and enjoy the wisdom that comes with it! thank you for my blessings, may we all have gratitude for what we've been given.

i am having a much deserved day off and going to have a bubble bath and enjoy and few quiet hours to myself. Chiu has gone to watch another friend's-Chung Ying Co.'s- chinese theatre show. I've chosen to enjoy some ME time. Our two opening shows of YuYu MiMi went reatlly well. Full houses, lots of tears and people touched by the show. The vice president of public affairs of HK and China from Exxon (our sponsors from the hong kong arts festival) came to opening night and loved it! She had lots to share about why she liked it so much and asked us what was next and that she wants to support us more. The women from singapore came to our show and hadnt done any research. She assumed it was an all puppets show and for kids and was surprised of its multi media melancholy. But she said she cried at the end and liked it ...ribble-our producer -will continue talks with them about us performing over there in their gorgeous theatre next feb.perhaps. We've been invited to perform at The 11th World Puppet Festival in PRAGUE!!! I got an email from them months ago asking us to apply with a show, so i sent off our show's info, then heard nothing. Then a few days ago, i got a mass email from them saying thanks to everyone who applied and then the email had a list of over 25 company's that were chosen and we were NOT on the list and no one from canada or asia was chosen. So, i felt a little disappointed but thought maybe next time. Then, I wrote a little letter to them, Saying: good luck with your festival, please keep us in mind for next year, thank you- maggie blue and hoi chiu from HK/Canada. Then a day later i get an invititation to attend their festival, saying their jury chose us! hmm? not sure what happened, but now we are applying for travel money- as they dont pay for flights or shipping or production fees. But they do They pay for accomodation, food and a daily stipend. The festival is juried and it's a competition with awards and prizes. Winning an award would be great and helpful! so...we're dealing with all that now too as well as next week we have 6 more performances to go with our show. The festival is a puppet theatre and puppet film festival..it'll be so inspiring to see all the other shows and meet amazing puppet masters from Europe! A dream becoming reality. Then I will be doing three days of Representing canada at a university which is having a global carnival, for some extra money and making an ally with the canadian consulate. Then chiu and I will be doing a one day workshop, teaching kids shadow puppets at Kadoorie farm. Then I leave for bali and he leaves for Taiwan for a month of relaxation, healthy alone time and preproduction on our next projects. whphew....thought i'd share what i've been up to with y'all loving you, blue (p.s top photo by st.even.)

Some days i forget why i am here, i feel hopeless and want to get off this planet. Somtimes i feel small and pointless, i feel i am not doing enough and don't feel motivated to do anything more. What do you suggest on days like this? i take a bubble bath, i do my best to be thankful for what i do have, i allow myself to "not know" what is happening and know this too shall pass..but then what? Why are we here? Why is there so much darkness in the world? How long is this veil of greed going to take control? Is being a good person ( as good as we can in every moment) enough? Is doing ART enough? Do you ever dream of helping people more? How can i be of service and inspire people and myself at the same time? These days of the darkness before the dawn can stretch my patience, I remember a time of love and ease- a dream that is far away and i want to touch it again. When can we ALL be fed and nurtured in this world? And if this jest keeps going on and on and on and on how can i maintain a sanity within this chaos? Do any of you, my star kin, have any suggestions on survival, maintenance and clarity? thank you.

a hong kong update from maggie blue

As i write this blog update the windows are shaking. A typhoon #3 is raging outside with high winds ripping signs off the streets and sheets of rain twisting peoples umbrellas inside out. I read some new poetry and sang some of my rhythms last night at a poetry reading called OUTLOUD at the Fringe Club in central Hong Kong. I was invited to be one of the featured readers for the night. Reading and singing outloud, in front of an audience is good practice for once I complete my book of poetry and album of songs i will want to/need to go out and share my work with people. Even though I have been performing most of my life i still get butterflies in my tummy right before i get up on stage and it takes a couple minutes on stage with a 'lil shakey-ness before i return to my grounded self and am able to share my words and voice. Listening to Ben Harper and Bjork that i downloaded from LIMEWIRE... what an awesome search engine, yu can get any music and pictures and programmes you want for free! I bought my first laptop!!!!! Yippeeee. For many years I wrote in my journals how i must: Buy a laptop and get writing more seriously, Do Yoga, and stop smoking the ganja...and until now i hadnt been able to do any of those goals. Now living in Hong Kong i am successfully accomplishing all of them. Finally, at 31, i am walking my talk. i raise a glass and give a CHEERS to all of us walking our talk!!! and doing our best to get there! Hoi Chiu and I are getting married. Yes, it's true. I never thought as i grew up that i'd ever get married. My parents are hippies and never got married and never set an examplef or me that marriage was important but now as I am in love and we want to Enjoy our Wedding Ritual together. We talk about rituals, milestones and initiations in life. And marriage is one MAJOR initiation and ritual that people can consciously participate in with their loved ones. As birth and death are MAJOR initiations but we are either too young or too old to really appreciate the changes we are going through. So, I give thanks and grattitude for finding my love and being able toshare my life with him. and I give thanks for having a supportive circle of family and friends who share our happiness for us being together. i searched a loooong time to find love. After a long, hard, challenging search for love. I finally gave up. i decided i had to spend some quality time with my self. to really look inside, see who i was, what i needed and then learn to fulfill those desires for myself. then and only then was i able to allow another person into my personal space and truely be vulnerable and available enough for involvement with another person. May we all find inner satisfaction and be able to share that tenderness with another sweet soul. May we all have forgiveness for our dark sides and past choices/actions and know that we are beautiful with all sides open and understood. I am now preparing for our wedding ritual here in Hong Kong. Gonna get married on OCtober 3rd at the hk city hall with 30 guests as witnesses, then a vegetarian dim sum, then a boat cruise around the islands. In the evening we are having a swanky dinner at a nice restarant out in the harbour. It looks like a James Bond movie, all lit up in the middle of a marina, you take a little boat ride to get out to the retaurant and then we've booked a gazebo on the rooftop for a table of 12 close friends. My Friends :girlfriend Tara Burst and her Partner Ryan are coming all the way from Alberta Canada- they are some of my Fellow Green Samurai Clan comrades and I am Soooo happy they are going to enjoy the wedding with us. Then we'll be off to thailand for a honeymoon...swimming, sunsets and snorkeling Then we're coming over to BC in mid october to enjoy our celebration with our close bc friends. Busy with puppets, festival applications and rehearsals for our upcoming shows. I give thanks for all my challenges in life as they have made me a stronger and more humble being. blessed be.

OK, here goes...8 unknown facts about myself: 1) I am getting married to Hoi Chiu on October 3rd in Hong Kong!!!!!Yippeeee 2) When I was born, my parents named me Blueberry Sunshine and then I chose the name Maggie when i was six 3) I once wrestled in jello pudding, it was wet and sticky and very messy. 4) I hopped freight trains across N.America for three months when i was 21, it was hot and dirty and exciting 5) I once built my own house and had to bring all the supplies to the land by boat ( seems like another life time ago but back in '98) 6) I love to sing, am making my own songs with plans to make my first album and have it out by summer 2007 7) I believe in Indigo children and have a dream to create a special jedi training/healing center one day out in nature: somewhere beautiful and healthy 8) I pray every day....ONLY LOVE PREVAILS and PEACE PREVAILS ON EARTH and IAM AN EMISSARY OF LOVE NOW I now tag Luke Brown, Delvin, Hjeron, DianeCat, Wendy, Cookie (in HK) have fun everyone!! life is beautiful if we enjoy it!
