my name is joey, & only a select few are allowed to call me "kangaroo." i'm a student at the university of washington, majouring in engineering. i plan on going to grad school for astronautical engineering or similar and working for nasa someday.

i used to be a riot grrrl (which means that i'm totally upfront about challenging people and being challenged and i'm not afraid to give or recieve constructive criticism), but i more closely identify with rave culture. i do still throw parties occasionally, but now i spend almost all of my time doing calculus homework & indulging my unhealthy obsession with buffy the vampire slayer & dune.

i'm also really into critical theory & anarchism, though my politics are complicated; i hesitate to identify with a pre-existing label, for fear that i will get associated with poorly contrived party politics. i like to think that my beliefs are situational; this is not to say that i don't have a firm belief system or that i leave room for hypocrisy, but rather that over the years i've learned to value context over dogma. as for spirituality-- it manifests itself in the strangest places: shared glances, sound & vision, & dirty rooms with loud techno music. i suppose i lean towards "techno pagan," but without the embarassing connotations. oh, & almost everything i say is tongue-in-cheek.

i swear to god i'm more interesting than this profile makes me appear, though i do spend far too much time on irc. at least i'm almost always idling.
