The past is already past.
Don’t try to regain it.
The present does not stay.
Don’t try to touch it.

From moment to moment.
The future has not come;
Don’t think about it
Beforehand.

Whatever comes to the eye,
Leave it be.
There are no commandments
To be kept;
There’s no filth to be cleansed.

With empty mind really
Penetrated, the dharmas
Have no life.

When you can be like this,
You’ve completed
The ultimate attainment.

Tale of Two Wolves

A Native American Tale

A grandfather was telling his grandson, "There is a conflict
inside of me and in every one of us. Two wolves live within me.

One wolf is jealous, angry, covetous, rude, disrespectful,
lazy, unkind, resentful. The other wolf is kind, loving,
grateful, compassionate, happy, helpful. They are battling
within each of us"

The grandson asks, "Which one will win?"
The grandfather thoughtfully answers, "The one you feed."

My daily activities are not unusual, I'm just naturally in harmony with them.
Grasping nothing, discarding nothing... Supernatural power and marvelous activity -
Drawing water and carrying firewood.

A man who had been traveling a long way approaches the
gate to a small village. Sitting outside the gate is an
old, wrinkled woman. The man asks the woman "What kind of
people will I find here in this village?"

The woman answers "What kind of people did you find in
the last village you were in?" The man said, "They were
terrible people. Greedy, obnoxious, hateful, rude,
Thieves all of them. It was awful." "You will find the same
sort of people here then" she answered. And the man hung his
head, turned around and walked away.

Later that day another man who had also been traveling a
long way approaches the same gate to the same village
and sees the same old woman sitting outside the
gate. He asks, "What kind of people will I find in this
village?"

The woman in turns asks, "What kind of people did you
find in the last village you lived?" He said "They were
wonderful people! Kind, generous, thoughtful, helpful, loving
people. I hated having to leave."
The woman looked at the man and answered

"Then you will find the same sort of people here."
And the man happily walked through the gate into the
village.

Could you be the 100th monkey?

The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years.

In 1952, on the island of Koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand. The monkey liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirt unpleasant.

An 18-month-old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream. She taught this trick to her mother. Her playmates also learned this new way and t... read more

You write your story in flame as you dance. You write about focus and determination, about mountain-like strength and endurance, and you write about grace… physical, mental, and simple.
You give yourself so completely and expect nothing in return but you are gifted the world because the world just can’t keep itself from you.
I am excited for your evolution, excited for you to experience this planet with your newly born eyes, excited for you to grow even more into yourself.
I have lost myself in you like a grain of sand in the ocean and now that I’ve returned, all I can say is thank you for being alive.
You have left your heartprint all over the fabric of my universe.

this man is a quiet warrior, and he bends moments into reflections that will stick with you.

exception: One that is excepted, esp. a case not conforming to a rule.

thank you Chris, for your incredibly wide eyes, your beautiful nature, and your state of calm. it is nice to ride the globe with you.

From first encounter I felt I knew this being...and I celebrate every opportunity I get to deepen that knowledge of a first-impression-feeling that lingers. I respect him for the presence he brings to his loyalty of words, I support him for where he stands on his path of creation, and I honor him in who he interweaves in the stories that unfold lessons of living and loving. There is something to be said for an intention to a consciously designed creative life. In my own migrations I am hard to catch yet he has captured me to the unraveling of who he is and the dedication to getting to active grips with dreams and making something of them. May I continue to find you in the dust swirls, in the butterfly kicks, and in the ring of where our fires intersect.

In a word, beauty.

Chris has been my closest brother since this voyage began. From the moment we met he showed me generosity i have not seen before or since. He will give up his own food even when he's hungry. Thankfully this means i haven't been hungry since i met him. :)

In a sense, Chris and i "grew up" together. As the fire community grew, we grew closer. We've shared the stage countless times, and its an honor each time. His movements inspire me, his way of approaching our art, of dissecting it and reassembling it upside down...a true vintage artist.

Take a look at Chris's left cheek and jaw-bone. you may notice a tiny scar in the shape of a fireclaw. i left that there so he can't forget me.

Many blessings in your travels brother. i love you.

I thank the heavans for sending such a radient creature into my life.
To see him from a distance is to feast your eyes on beauty,
Up close he is a mirror to my soul.
Uncovering each layer reveals a new shiny jewl,
I wonder if will be so lucky as to see the diamond in his heart.
Thank you for inspiring me~
