about me
I am an artist. I enjoy working in all mediums but mostly lend myself to black and white because of its quiet, yet subtle beauty. Also, because of its powerful border on reality and its nature of stopping a moment in time, like a time machine, or a image that is left burned in your retina like a sunspot that won’t go away with out time passing. Everyday you have those moments in life where you walk by something and you catch an image like a freeze frame or you turn your head or walk in a room and in front you is visual information, but instead it’s like a message you are meant to personally see that can build a story, that is what photography is like for me, a frozen momentary message, or story. I describe my work as transcending...most of the work revolves around the figure and the female on a basic visual and formal level, she is my star. That is most people's inital perception, that the work is provocative, sensual and feminine, which are true points however, the visual dialogue lends itself to speak of a perception that transcends average daily experience...and surpasses average senses to a heightened connection to the world an emotional body exists because that is how we as sensual beings perceive events and experiences whether it’s associated with love, pain, comfort, bliss, etc. I like to take these forms out of a more mundane reality to an extreme visual display of imagination and raw energy. I feel these momentary bursts are what life is really composed of, those flashes in life where you transcend the ordinary to go beyond the limits and be completely encompassed in the moment. That is when we join with the collective space between surreality and truly exist freely. I like each image to be a small perception that conveys a feeling because I feel that our constructed reality is all perception or a combination of perceptions by the individuals involved in each moment. While people see the bands as a restriction or hinderance to the spirit or emotion in some instances that is dependent upon the emotional charge like an atom or particle...but also one must see that it is also a transendence to go beyond physical boundries..they are boundries....and we can go beyond those limits of normal capacity interacting in both directions us out and them in to be interconnected. The spark of high key lighting furthur visually portrays the idea of limitless boundries, an illumination which heightens the beauty to light up our lives. The lighting enhances this point of transendence to further express the mundane physical limitations of reality. It is also key in the compositon, as in the darker images the light transforms and defines forms graphically, suggesting and interplay between light and dark. The result is an intensity and power that is communicated visually and again the bands represent the transcendental border between. Therefore through the flood of light and contrasting light and dark with a dose of beauty in the compostion the viewer should feel beyond ideas such as enlightenmed tourists on the journey do everyday just heightend like some people sense of awarness or conciousness. Those barriers are blurred between us and the universe sometimes allowing us to experience the lightness in and the dark were to escape from depending on the siutation or moment in the trip we are taking called life. This effects the spiritual body, emotional body, or as some define the soul. What a level? The images also, lend themselves more to a surreality or visionary ideal. I feel they are more dreamlike than ordinary which falls into my view of life, that in it’s entirety its one big dream, are we awake and lucid, some are some aren't. So wake up and transcend...to live life in the light.....:)

Howdy folks,

My Testimonials

September 6, 2007
I love humingbyrd for so many things she has been for me. She sparked my renaissance in photography, took me down paths of art that for some reason in the path scared me. she validated the fear, shared it with me then chased it away with love and light. living in terrapin long time now. on a magical day at an average bar she changed my life. i owe her a debt that i will be repaying until i die. her child is to come to the world soon and it was a sweet magical comic moment when she gave herself the test at my apartment and asked for a second third fourth opinion, the same positive signal kept coming and we reveled for a week in our shared joy for her magic gift. kerrville was a transplendent and rich time, in no small way due to her company, and my ass kickin in the kitchen. Nessa is my sister my mom never knew, and for that i'm glad, i don't think nessa would like my mom.
