NEW TRIBAL AND FUSION COURSES STARTING IN APRIL
New bellydance courses start the week of the 31st of MarchHilde is a qualified teacher with a degree in dance. She has also got certificates in Egyptian dance and Tribal Belly Dance. She has over 10 years experience in dance and has been teaching belly dance for 3 years. Her style of dancing is very eclectic and there is a huge street dance and flamenco influence present in her dance. Over the years she has created a hybrid style where Middle Eastern dance and Western influences are fused together.
This term she will be teaching 3 different styles of belly dance:
Mondays - Brighton - starting 31st of March
1.30-2.30: Belly Dance Fitness Fusion: all levels

FITNESS FUSION CLASSES: learn to dance while toning up and losing weight!
Mondays - Brighton - starting 31st of March
6.30-7.30pm: Egyptian fusion - beginners/improvers
7.45-8.45pm: Egyptian fusion - improvers/intermediate

EGYPTIAN FUSION BELLY DANCE: This style uses Egyptian dance techniques, danced to more Modern music and with a more Modern approach.
Tuesdays - Brighton - starting 1st of April
8-9.15: Belly Dance Basics - absolute beginners

BELLY DANCE BASICS: Learn the basics of belly dance, focus is on correct posture, basic isolations, safe warm ups and stretches, working to the different styles taught on Mondays and Thursdays.
Thursdays - Portslade - starting 3rd of April
7-8pm: Tribal fusion - beginners/improvers
8-9pm: Tribal fusion - improvers/intermediate

TRIBAL FUSION BELLY DANCE: This eclectic dance style mixes tribal with street dance, flamenco, Egyptian dance and Indian dance into a funky hybrid style.

TRIBAL BELLY DANCE: Also called ATS. So much fun and less scary than it sounds! In this course, a vocabulary of movements is taught, each with a cue to start with. The dance is always danced in groups, with leaders that give the cue of a movement and followers that copy the movement. It is all about communication between the dancers and it is a real social dance. The outcome is a very synchronized but improvised group dance, that has an earthy mesmerizing feel to it.

JP Omari will be teaching a street dance workshop aimed at improving your groove and improving your coordination. This is a beginners workshop for people that have some experience in belly dance but want to develop their own dancing style with other styles of dance. The workshop will consist of a warm up with basic street dance moves, stretching, a new style hip hop routine, a sharing session and a cool down.
JP Omari is a professional Hip Hop dancer, teacher and choreographer, specializing in Streetdance and Bboying (Breakdance). Born and raised in Rome, JP has created his own unique energetic style, drawing from a rich and eclectic range of musical influences. He is a founding member of the Floor Crusaders, (an award winning UK breakdance crew), a member of the famous American hip hop crew SickStep and is Rehearsal Director for the Funkstarz (a hip hop youth dance company).
JP teaches, judges and performs extensively throughout the UK.
Recent achievements include winner of Vauxhall Tribes Regional Hip Hop Competition 2006 & 2007, choreographer for a short dance film for Channel 4 and as a competitor on BBC1’s Strictly Dance Fever 2006 as part of the popular duo JP & Stacey.

1.30-3pm: Flamenco fusion
Exploring true Flamenco gestures and movement
vocabulary to use in any style of belly dance.
3.30pm-5pm: 100% UZUME
In this workshop you will learn an Uzumé-fusion
combination to add to your dance vocabulary.
Schedule Sunday 27th of APRIL 2008:
TIMES CHANGED!!
1pm-2.30pm: Old school hip hop fusion
Learn the basic steps of floating, gliding and sliding,
followed by a cool new Fusion combo with HipHop
elements such as popping ‘n locking.
3pm-4.30pm: Floorwork
In this workshop, you will learn some descents to
the floor and what to do while you are down there…
Kneepads are strongly recommended for this workshop.
4.30-6pm: Indian flavoured fusion
You will learn a combo with some nice poses with arms
and hand gestures.
Fees: £15 per 1.5 hour workshop or £60 for all 5 workshops

performance with balkan brass band in Brighton
EXCELLENT!!!Last night I danced in the Komedia with a band called Fanfara. Now THAT is what it is all about, having 10 musicians support your dancing, rather than dancing to a track from a cd. I was so excited that I gave it my all during the first minute and thought I was going to faint halfway through the first track! These guys are absolutely amazing!!
NEW!! Belly Dance Fitness fusion starting every Monday in Brighton starting January 2008
BELLY DANCE FITNESS FUSION:WHAT IS THIS? Learn the art of Belly Dance through a fun exercise class. This class is aimed at losing weight and toning up, getting fit and feeling great in your body. Hilde's experience in teaching Aerobics inspired her to start teaching this class. In each class you will be taught a series of exercises that work towards a choreography. This is a low impact class, so ideal for fat burning. Each class is different so perfect on a drop in basis.
Belly Dance Fitness Fusion classes are taught every Monday starting the 7th of January
1.30-2.30pm all levels are welcome

DATES: ONGOING! Classes start on the 7th of January. There are no set courses running for the Fitness Fusion classes, you either pay for drop in classes or a 10 week class card

ARABIAN SPICE & Geneva Bybee workshops - review
Wow, I didn't have time to do this any earlier, what with being in Canada and all that...I just wanted to say thank you so much Geneva for a wonderful weekend. I am still on a high from your performance at the Joogleberry, you are such a wonderful dancer and teacher and person, loved our nights out as well. Sophie is asking when Montana is coming back.
Thanks to all for coming to the workshops too! And for your support during the performance at the joogleberry, you all make me feel so good inside with your zaghareets :)
And I also want to thank the girls of Masmoudi, you rocked the show!! I am excited for the next performance, I have to admit, I enjoy dancing with you guys even more than performing on my own, I can feel your energy on stage!!
