A brutal Pre-Code wonder directed by William Wellman about impoverished teens who ride the rails looking for jobs. Starts all tame and cutesy then slides quickly into the despair of the Great Depression. New Deal propaganda that isn't ruined by the sappy ending.

Intriguing but felt like an insider film for hardcore fans (not me.)

Always a favorite. Played on the big screen at the Hollywood Theatre.

The best black and white photography I've seen in a long time. The rest of the film is very well done indeed. Fans of Joy Division (like me) will be pleased.

about me
I'm a gay man not into the bar/club scene. Does that make me straight-acting? I'm a black man not into hip-hop style. Does that make me white-acting? Love getting to know others who fall between the cracks of conformity. Into the unheard of, the unpronounceable and the obscure.
