</a>
<div>I feel like I fell asleep in late December and woke up and it was April. Very surreal.

First, right after Christmas, I was hit by Cedar Fever. Hit HARD! I thought I would sneeze my brains out! I never want to go through that again!! But just when the cedars were letting up, and I could finally breathe again, things just got worse: I came down with Mono.

I came down with Mono???? WTF? I am thirty years old for F*** sake, I can't have Mono! Mono is for college students, and I'm a junior-year-drop-out. With a JOB and a MORTGAGE. Mono is just not in the plan.

Worse, it was Spring, and as a gardener, I make more money in the Spring than I make the entire rest of the year, but this year, instead of stashing money away for the lean times I was SLEEPING 20 HOURS PER DAY!!! My gardening clients had to pull their own weeds and no serious planting got done, and it was a drought year, so a few things died because I wasn't there to water them. Oh, just everything about the past few months was sucky.

So, anyway, if anyone wonders where I have been . . . I have been asleep for two months.

Send Money.</div>

Note to Self

<div>Dear Self,

While I admire your dedication to Edible landscaping, soil improvement, and the local food movement, I feel that some scheduling changes are in order. I realize that days-off from work are an ideal opportunity to improve my own garden, but it is not necessary to work in the garden every single day that paying work is not on the schedule.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that if we have a belly dance class in the evening of a day-off, we should actively resist the temptation to shovel half a ton of garden soil. Certainly, if we wish to be able to hold up our arms and stay awake during class, a quarter-ton is the limit!

Sincerely,
You

P.S. Remember to drink more water!</div>

Bikininess

<div>Due to a recent topic in the Tribal Costuming tribe, I have started to think about bikinis. For the past several years, I've been wearing the same old one-piece swimsuit that I bought eight years ago in Boulder. I mean, I only ever submerse myself in water-that-is-not-my-bathtub twice a year anyway, so it seemed silly to buy a new suit. Until, that is, this year.

I have gained a few pounds -- and no complaints about that because they are all in places where I needed a few more pounds anyway! But, it means that my old suit (hardly worn) is now a bit tight. So, I knew that I would be buying a new one this season.

At first, I thought I would just go down to the local REI or sports-clothing related store and buy something in a non-hideous color. It's not like a I need to make any fashion statements.

But I started thinking about bikinis. Why don't I own a bikini? I have a nice body, and I'm not shy . . . So what's wrong with bikinis. Come to think of it, there's no reason on earth that I shouldn't wear one. And in fact, I think I WANT to wear one!

So tonight at dinner, while I was answering the "what did you do today" question, I said, "and while I was at the store I looked at the bikinis, but didn't find any I liked."

My husband froze with his french fry hovering in front of his mouth and said, "A Bikini? YOU?"

"Why not? I have great abs. See?" (I lifted my shirt)

"A Bikini? That's GREAT! Can I help you pick it out?"

I gave him a wary look. "Okay . . . but no buttfloss."

I am a little worried about my chronic Farmer's Tan, and also about the scars from my apendectomy. But really, I think people will be so busy admiring my muscular goddess-ness to notice a little thing like white-girl fish-belly or scars.

Forgot I had a Blog

<div>I totally forgot I had a Blog here. So, Um . . .

It's Spring, and that means I am busy all day and exhausted at night. I am starting to resent the time I spend working on other people's gardens, and wishing I could just take some time off to play with my own plants. But, soon enough, the spring rush will be over and I can get some rest/time to myself.

At least I have managed to schedule Wednesday as a light-duty day. The client I see Wednesday mornings has a small garden, with no heavy lifting or major digging required, therefore I never strain, bruise, or otherwise injure myself on Wednesdays. This is great because I have BELLY DANCE LESSONS on Wednesday nights! Whoo hoo!

I just finished lesson number 2 in the beginner's series taught by Zhelene. I am really liking her teaching style. She's very clear, always gives two or three different explanations for the same move, covering all the learning-syles. Also, she really emphasises posture more than Lucila did, and I like that. My job is so physical that the last thing I need is to injure myself dancing!

Did zils tonight . . . I can't believe the skills I gained in marching band actually have a real-world use! Moving and playing zils was not as hard as I thought it would be, but I clearly will need to practice that more.

I find myself looking forward to rainy days . . . on rainy days I cancel my appointments and stay home. With hubby at work and the house to myself, I can practice.</div>

The season of Giving.

<div>The season of giving each other Colds, that is. This year we started passing the colds around in early December, and we've spent the whole month either being sick or "recovering". Recovering from a cold seems to take ten times longer than however long you had the cold in the first place, and during the recovery period you are too healthy to call in sick to work, but not quite healthy enough to feel motivated to wash the dishes or buy groceries. As for decorating the house or buying gifts . . . ha ha ha!

Anyway, I've missed two weeks of belly dance classes due to lethargy and absentmindedness (I blame the cold). Sweetienookums is only working forty hours a week instead of his usual sixty. My Cousin-who-lives-with-us is miserable because there are no effective cold medicines a pregnant woman can take, so she just sits around and sniffles, and asks her baby-daddy to run errands for her. "I need more Tylenol, Kleenex, Pan-fried Dumplings, Ice Cream, and the latest novel by Author X and you have to go get them for me because I'm Pregnant with Your Child, and you gave me this cold" she will say to him and off he goes . . .. It's very entertaining to watch.

I'm sick of being trapped in the house. Not only am I tired and lethargic, but even if I wanted to go out it would be next to impossible. Living near a couple large shopping centers means that anytime I try to leave the house I run into Holiday Shopping Traffic, and even simple errands become major ordeals. Took me half an hour to get to the Kinkos four blocks away. I am NOT brimming over with love for mankind. I wish mankind would take their SUVs and go shop in the next zipcode. Makes me wish I could send my cousin's baby-daddy on errands for me, "I need a quart of milk, four boneless chicken breasts, and some eggs," but I don't think he'd go for it. </div>
