Blatherings Blog

Here I am visiting my daughters and their families in Healdsburg where I lived from 1992-2007. The Russian River is so contaminated with E-Coli and Enterococcus (sp) it is advised people not swim in the water. Seems to many farm animals and outdated septic systems have dumped feces in the water, making it unsafe. It is a reminder why I left my family and moved to the Rogue River in Oregon. Last year this time I was on an extended road trip through the west, which ended in my relocating to Southern Oregon from Northern California to live. Since my arrival almost one year ago many things I was hoping to manifest have indeed come into my life, such as a drumming circle of wonderfully wise elder women; employment with mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health; and a place to live with good water, garden space, trees, kind community, and love.

Yes, it's official. I am a Bag Lady.
When I earned my BA Degree in Geography, people asked me what I wanted to do to earn a living. I responded I wanted to sell underwear at Macy's to world travelers because I knew world climates and would know what a woman would need in every country, and when I retired I would become a Bag Lady like so many underpaid women do at that age.
