So I’m getting mega paranoid about this bird flue thing. The reason being in the Phillip K. Dick book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (know to the g-u masses as Blade Runner) the birds die off first, there is then a plague that kills off all the animals. a similar event have happened in Planet of the Apes series and is hinted at in Cayrl Church Hill’s sci fi play Not… not… not… not… not… Enough Oxygen. I have been trying to keep my discomfort at bay but today I saw that "Turkish officials are said to be struggling to finish an emergency cull of poultry to contain the virus, with 12,000 birds, chickens and turkeys killed." is this another case of science fiction becomming science fact? I hope not.
