Math Chart--- Help

   Mon, April 7, 2008 - 7:38 PM
Once upon a time i had easy access to soft ware for plotting charts, can't seem to find anything on my computer.

Our Daughter wanted to collect data about the heart rate of different animals at rest. She has a good data set, and she made a great chart with drawings she did herself. It looks great. i am being a control freak and wanted to add a graph showing the best fit line and the slope of the line. To give her a little bit of data that says, per her measurements as your wieght increases by x your heart rate reduces by y.

I am asking if anyone out there has quick and easy access to plotting software, and if they would not mind plugging in our data set. i remember it as being quick and easy, if i am wrong, tell me i am nuts and to take a flying something or another.

Our chart has Weight in pounds on the vertical axis (going up and down) and beats per minute (BPM) along the vertical axis (along the bottom ( i say that in case i am screwing something up in my little dyslexic overthinking brain)

Horse 128 lbs 48 bpm
Man 220 lbs 52 bpm
Woman 190 lbs 72 bpm
Zoe 116 lbs 88 bpm
Dog 66 lbs 88bpm
Baby 20 lbs 140 bpm
Cat 16 lbs 172 bpm
Chinchilla 1 lb 202 bpm

This would be a totaly cool favor.

If it could be sent as a jpg file that would be great.

OK... sending this out to the tribe universe.

... i am still looking for my stats book

Babe,

that horse weighed more than I do. You forgot a digit.

1248 or 1284 pounds or something like that.

you are right, 1284, the horse is an outlier. When you put the horse in, it makes it not linear, The chinchilla might be an outlier also.

SO there is not a linear relationship.
