My Testimonials

April 26, 2005
Ayido Wedo is not only a dear and trusted friend, she is an amazingly talented writer, herbalist, artist, crafter, observer of humanity and all-around magical person! Her generous spirit is motherly and comforting. I just can't say enough about what a treasure she is in my life, and the lives of those who have read her works. I'm certainly glad she is in my circle of friends!

My Blog

Tribal Pura Bloomington was a well organized event from the close (walking distance) of the very clean, reasonable, comfy (group-discounted) hotel to the spacious dance hall and ever-ready supply of a variety of cold drinks & breakfast buffet. The performance Friday night was interesting--with one of few contemporary young male dancers I’ve seen in a while, lots and lots of ATS and some oriental thrown in which made a refreshing change, as well as Smoke from the Chicago area, performing a Mo... read more

I've been sweating (more than normal, LOL) over the notion that tribe.net might evaporate some day soon. What a loss to the belly dance community that would be. It is one of the most fascinating and heavily visited sites I've been on for dancers and it also addresses our other interests and concerns. Bah hum bug. Anyway, I've set up a couple of ways to stay in communication--I have about 80 friends here and about 80 tribes I enjoy. If you're interests match up to the theme, you're welcom... read more

Any dancers out there ever suffered an overuse injury like tennis elbow or golfer's elbow from too many floreos and such? Well if you haven't, let me tell you, it's scary and painful. I thought I had broken my elbow but there wasn't any impact serious enough to cause it. My x-rays didn't show any fracture. What I did was jump back into dancing, feet and arms first...practicing, practicing, practicing and dancing, dancing, dancing. I think the Spanish Fusion did it because of the very diff... read more

Hmmmmmmm, I'm ready to do some more painting. Have some very evocative images in mind--I visualize dancers, maps, landscape, family--all melding together. You'll see soon as I can download the images from my mind and get them onto canvas and paper.

Was watching Jillina's amazing Instructional Bellydance Level 3 and was so blown away anew by her character, skill, rhythm, connection to the drumming, personal expression...the whole package she displays as a teacher and in her solo performance. I am a tribal style dancer but after taking her workshop, seeing her in BDSS and using her instructional DVDs I am becoming a big fan of the Oriental dance style she embodies. Moreover, I really appreciate how she grounded both the workshop experie... read more
