Dismantling Christmas

It's always a little bit sad to me when it's time for the holiday decorations to be taken down and put away. The house seems so bare and cold without the adornments of the season.

Fortunately, though, it's beautiful and sunny right now (even if it is a bit cold out) and that makes the job of dismantling christmas a little less depressing.

Update: Here's the tree. It pretty, but it's not nearly as dramatic as I had envisioned.

For the last 10 or so years, I've gone a little over the top with decorating my Christmas tree. Some years, it's worked out really well; other years...not so much. This is shaping up to be a "not so much" kind of year.

Phoenix in the summertime. Can you imagine a hotter place? Besides the Ninth Ring of Hell, I mean. Fortunately, it's not the middle of summer, so instead of 115-120 degrees, the forecast is for 100-104 degrees. I'm okay with that, since it's right in line with the summer temps I'm used to from all my years living in the California Central Valley. Plus, I'll be inside most of the time, where I'll most likely be freezing because the AC will be running full bore.

Anyway, this is where I'll be this coming week. Come Wednesday, my brain will be overflowing with new information about our data system and I'll be all a-tingle about all the super cool functionality coming in the next service pack release. Wait? What's that I hear? Yawning? Bored sighs?

I get it. I'm a half-step away from being a horn-rimmed glasses wearing, tape on the nosebridge, pocket protector sportin', living in my mom's basement, WoW playing nerdy geek.

I wish.

This is my crafty/creativity/creation area. It's in utter chaos right now. I get irritated looking at the mess. But not irritated enough to actually straighten it up, because,well that would be like work, wouldn't it? And today is my.day.off.
