My Testimonials

August 17, 2005

On the cross-country road trip of my life, this girl sits shotgun.

Somewhere between childhood and mid-life crisis she became one of the most important people in my life, and how lucky am I...
She is open-minded and flexible, fun and freaky, easy-going and honest, inspiring and inspired.

And just when I think I've got everything figured out, she jumps up and pokes me in the pu-pu platter! That crazy girl...

i told helena once that she was one of the most beautiful women ive ever met, and this is a TRUTH, like the sighs of goddesses. i have watched room upon room of boisterous people drop like petals in love when she refocuses her gaze on them, and the drape of her arm on my hip has been known to make me feel like a rockstar priestess. she wrangles jewels, and words, and longings, and she rolls her own cigarettes like cowgirl from the rubber rose ranch reading your fortune in tabacco. her tattoo is profound and nonsensical, and she inspires me like an art noveau muse, an old french movie, a strong sweet woman. someday i hope she'll be the sugarcube for my absinthe, dripping cool sweetness into the intoxicating oblivion.

I was in the middle of cramming for my last final and I see Gustav Klimt in the index of my developmental bio book, so I look, and ... yes was procrastinating:

In Klimt's 1908 painting of Danae being impregnated by Zeus, blastocyst-like patterns decorate her robe! A blastocyst is an early mammal embryo and the one pictured is what it looks like before burrowing into the uterine wall. The blastocyst was discovered in 1881 and this is probably its first public display (so the book says). ... read more
