Update April 2008
I am oh-so-happily married to a beautiful being named Arrow. We have a funky apt. in an established East Village squat building, the cutest little dog ever, and an every-growing love between us. My 12-year-old stepdaughter Felix, who is with us half of every week, never fails to provide that extra spice to life. I work at Exit 9 gift shop 1-2 days a week and will be teaching K-5ers about compost, worms, greenhouses, and plant life cycles at Added Value in Red Hook Brooklyn again this spring and summer - a two acre urban farm and education center. We joined the NY Health and Racquet Club - its so fun ask me about joining! I hope to develop and lauch a website about Ecovillage Design and Social Networking folks who wish to find others and start communities. Arrow and I are open to becoming parents if Spirit thinks we are ready! We have many fun trips coming up this summer. Camping with our neighbor families and family reunions in Virginia and Ohio in June, Rainbow Gathering in Wyoming in July, Amsterdam with Felix in August, and perhaps a trip to Short Mountain Sanctuary in October. Things are going really well. I am content and happy! Come to the monthly singing circle. (i also go by Teagan for all you ol' Ohio peeps) Whew! So quite a summer. I was away from the city for more than 1-2 weeks for the first time since Sept. 2002 when I moved here. I spent the summer camp counseling at the Cincinnati Nature Center and living and working a bit at Grailville, my women's community in Loveland, Ohio. I had a beautiful, relaxing summer. The nature, fresh, clean air and quiet was rejuvenating. Listening to crickets singing and frogs croaking, as the warm summer breeze rocked me in the hammock chair on the wrap-around porch of my Victorian mansion, the House of Joy in the evenings was one of my favorite places to find myself. I met a solid, group of flower children around the local coffeeshop and weekly drum circle. I planted a veggie garden and my 10 foot sunflower bloomed just as I was leaving. I netted duckweed out of a silt-filled pond. I weeded some flowerbeds. I spent my days with 5-10 year-olds catching crayfish in the creek, hiking in the woods, reading children's stories, baking cookies, making forts out of invasive plants, and playing make-believe games about squirrels, foxes, and The Blob. I stayed in the top floor of a beautiful historical house and read books and slept well. I carpooled to work everyday and hardly ever needed a car. I went to Gaian Mind in PA in June, Rainbow Gathering in CO in July, and Burning Man in NV in August. Each time I was with Arrow. Over the month of June our separation made our hearts grow fonder and we began to feel more sure than ever that we wanted to be together. We proposed to each other on July 4th after the big circle of Rainbow Gathering. And this past sunday morning, after the Man burned, in front of many of our gathered friends, we said our vows to each other, blessed our rings, did a handfasting ritual together and jumped out of the circle into our new life together. It was so perfect. So now...I am proud and excited to say...I am in a lifetime partnership with Straight Arrow Brent Logan Baker Chrome. And I have never been so happy and satisfied in my entire life. I am now back in New York, taking some time to put my life together here. Moving into the East Village, wrapping up my apt. in Brooklyn, helping out with Arrow's biodiesel company, and taking some time to decide what I'd like to do next. I really only want to do some form of experiential education - so please send possibilities my way. I would love for it to be part-time too. I love you all so much. I would like to stay in touch more. I have been in my own world alot of this summer - I am looking forward to getting caught up on what's going on in yours. love you, teaganXOXO 917.254.7708 teagan@riseup.net i am a ohio farming woman who decided in Sept. of 2002 to try NYC on for size and its starting to grow on me (the public transportation is hard to imagine ever leaving behind). i hope to live and work on ecovillages in Spain, NM, AZ, and other environs and get more permaculture experience. i hope to build one in southwest ohio at www.grailville.org I work for www.heifer.org in Brooklyn and help small farmers in the northeast US with sustainable ag. and community development. i promote and fight for urban gardens/farms around the city. I lived with an array of strange, exotic, creative, queer-friendly women in a 3 BR in Brooklyn's Clinton Hill/BedStuy area, 20 min. from Manhattan. I have a plot in my neighborhood community garden where I am experimenting with cold weather crops. also, don't care much for government or American cult-ure. like puppies, drumming, and being naked in sunlight as much as possible. like to play guitar and sing and read. bike ride without getting harassed by police. i love my company. i like to dance with lights in my hands and kiss girls. i like to be out in the woods but freak about mosquitos and poison ivy. i like to clean. i like music that travels and goes somewhere. i procrastinate alot. and work best under pressure, and really, by myself. i luv ohio...sometimes. Come crash anytime - with fair notice please. bring your own toliet paper dammit, or at least do some dishes!
