I have really no idea how big of a blip this story was nationally, but locally it was handled as a State Emergency.

Friday, Williamson and Jackson counties in southern IL were hit by what the NWS described as a 'Inland Hurricane'. Gusts to 106 MPH were clocked @ the Carbondale airport.
