Niobium is Element 41 on the Periodic Table of Elements. Niobium is derived from the name Niobe, which in Greek mythology is the daughter of Tantalus. In its purest form Niobium is a shiny, white, soft, and ductile metal; that takes on a bluish cast and becomes dark when exposed to the world around us. Niobium is considered one of the 3 Space Age Metals. The element has super conductive properties and when charged with a current and submersed in certain chemicals, Niobium’s surface can become anodized to nearly any hue of electrifying color. Niobium is a hypoallergenic metal. Meaning that almost no one has ever had an allergic reaction to it. It is believed that Niobium has healing powers, and may be found used in rituals that help to balance the Chakra’s and to clean the soul.

Band History
The concept behind the music of Niobium is perfectly reflected by the essence of the physical properties of the Element. It began early in 2004 when Justice propositioned Kirkland James and Amanda Busch of Rimshodt start a side project that would perform at a Cultural Festival only a few months away. Their ideas were on the same level, but the structure and sound began as something much more mellow, something with a new-age trance ambience, a progressive rock sound touched by the dark side to give you a new wave called Psycadelic Tribal Trance Metal. With Justice breathing his fire through the didgeridoo, Kirkland James on the guitar and Amanda Hand beating on the drums the band made a successful impact with their first performance, Invocation.

In July of 2004 after their show at the Red Sea, the group decided to enlist Diggz Mahoney as a second guitarist, which also developed into singing backup vocals. Shortly there after, Niobium began auditioning new percussionists and bassists. Drew Boyd astonished the group with his first audition with a very creative jam session with only a week of practicing with the demo. Unfortunately, at this time Amanda began suffering with a serious illness and was forced to leave the band. Not long after Amanda left, Rossi a.k.a. Dr. Pfshopilis made his entrance playing the bass and brought an impressive degree of skill to the band. This new addition brought a greater dynamic foundation to Niobium. For the next month, Niobium recorded their First EP, Alpha Prime, at McNally Smith College of Music; St. Paul, Minnesota with student producer Adam Cronce. They also worked on their performance, stage presence and business strategy to successfully combat the highly competitive local scene beginning June 2005. With an impressive 80+ fans on a Tuesday night to support Niobium, they were welcomed back by their fans with open arms. Continuing their journey gaining hundreds of fans they collaborate with local Fire/Glow Dance Troupes Phoenix Experience and Illumination as well as Various Video Jockey’s including VJ Boris BP da House Meista and VJ Catalyst, bringing a new eclectic ambiance of phsycadelic tribal trance metal to an exciting level of artistic performance. Early in 2006 the Diggz Mahoney endured some life difficulties that resulted in him taking an undetermined leave of absence to undertake a deep learning experience. In his stead, Niobium enlisted the very talented Adam Cronce who had been living with some of the band members and working very close with them recording their up coming album “Call of the Tribe”. The Next Chapter of Niobium now sets to unfold as fans gather in masses to see what the local buzz is all about.
