(i would have titled this post "i h8 faggots" but it would have required me 1) quoting Joe Jackson's song 'Real Men' with the line "Don't call me faggot, unless you are a friend" 2) realizing this person i'm about to discuss is utterly NOT a friend 3) didn't want to piss off the lovely people who claim 'faggot' and aren't total and utter prats...

anyway ...

i fought a valient fight with the help of the friend i'm staying with to keep this silly dork-wad we were hanging out with last night (he's the current interest of a friend of my friend...) and after already surpressing my gag reflex to meet them all at The Midnight Sun (hopefully the first and LAST time i'll darken their doorstep), said dork-wad began insisting that we go to Badlands.

WTF?!?! My friend protested. I point blank told dork-wad that in no way, shape or form would I ever go to a place which has turned away friends of mine simply because they weren't white. I had to reiterate this, and looked him dead in the eye and said "I will not patronize a business with blatantly racist policies, nor will I betray my friends by going to a place which, in the past, would not let them in." He acted as though these things *never* happened and that there was no substance to the controversy.

He called us "bitches" and a few other things. In the end, we steered him and his friend well away and went to Capri on Market for pizza instead.

Dork-wad was soooo fucking clueless that he never fathomed the depths of how upset we were and acted like nothing happened. We did manage to make it through the meal ok, and then we busted out of there.

My friend wasn't feeling well (possibly coming down with a cold) so we hightailed it back to his place to have tea, listen to music, and then a random late night snak.

bottom line... at least we kept at least two people from that awful place, if only for a night.
