PERFORMANCE ARTIST <> SHAMAN <> COUNTER-CULTURAL AVATAR <> ENERGY HEALER <> SEER>
In the times of the ancients Art itself was not an isolated concept, it was inevitable in the totality of experience, everything was Art, existence was conscious and creative. When we began isolating and separating aspects of the grand totality we felt the need to recognize which polarity we resembled mostly and then identify based off of that. We did this because we needed to know which aspect of the totality we are. In many different religious and spiritual teachings, it is an understanding that we departed from eternity and entered the physical form in the world of duality in order to know ourselves, for within eternity, we are everything, thus we are ONE. Similarly we pull away from amalgamated oneness in order to re-cognize the many aspects of our selves. I believe we are working towards an epic reunion, whereby discordant elements, separated from centuries of fragmentation are uniting, with firmer grasps of themselves. Thus, the utopic dream of a more highly evolved species, gathered from a variety of independent elements that band together (an ecosystem) to RE-Create the totality of heaven but with conscious action.
I have long occupied my post in isolation. I have sought and continue to seek to be some fixed entity, only to acknowledge that almost as soon as that entity is fixed it withers in the advent of another. So I try and use the word Shaman or Witch Doctor to organize the ocean of diverse aspects of who I am to myself, to others, to the Earth and to the Cosmos. Shamans fulfilled a variety of roles in their respective communities, ranging from performative, to healing, plant knowledge, to warrior training.
At this point I am a Performance Artist, and I try and organize a variety of elements into epic non-linear narratives. But I do not think of them as narratives, so much as ecosystems. I work with movement, text, sound, dance, costume, sculpture, video, paint and installation in a cyclic manner. But I consider my self my ultimate work of Art : and connections with people throughout the process of production of performances and my own existance as life altering, learning experiences. I teach, and advocate for the creation of conscious intentional communities. I live in a Mansion with eleven other Artists who are my family. Community is another ecosystem that surrounds me.
I am a nomad, there is some intrinsic body memory of migration in my being that translates itself through my existence profoundly. To and Fro are my greatest teachers, the ebb and flow my constant companions. I am a fierce warrior and a soft nurturer, a sensual lover and contemplative loner. I am the God and Goddess, the Earth and Sky, ancient and contemporary. I am where the binaries dissolve.
