I've been stuck at home with a nasty chest cold, so when I'm not on the computer, I'm folding paper cranes  for the Paper Crane Project at 1VCC. Took a couple pics of them today... but I'm not really happy with the quality of the pics. It's all about me getting used to this camera.

I also tried using my new filter while I had the camera out. Not sure I'm using it right. It's meant to lessen the glare on glass objects.

Thought you'd enjoy seeing the cranes and turtles anyway. You can learn more about the paper crane project at sistermischif.blogspot.com

I figure this is about 50 cranes of varying sizes from smaller than a dime, to just on the palm of your hand

This is Link. The pictures I took of Cuff didn't really come out the way I'd hoped ,but here's one for ya anyway

Just playing around with some friends by the fire in my backyard tonight... and then played with this set a bit in photoshop to layer them into Flamin:

Here's my favorite of the impromptu shots I got of Pepper and Milo interacting:

Doesn't it just make you wanna say awww :)

I've been stuck at home with a nasty bug and played a bit with Photoshop. This picture was made by combining a picture Milo took, and a picture I took of Milo. This is called "Through the Fire"

Photos taken with my new (and much beloved) Big Bertha, Nikon D40X. Milo's picture was taken at 1600 ISO on the portrait setting, no flash. Mine was taken at 600 ISO, no flash, 3 second exposure

Modifications made in Photoshop: layering them as if in double exposure, cropped to size, fading of edges.

Also, I've been folding oragami all day. Mostly Paper Cranes for our local paper crane project. Here's some inspiration I happened across online.  The following pieces of the Wizard of Oz scene were folded as part of the WOW WaW project of 2007:

Was flipping through Joi's myspace photos and fell in love with this image:

Beautiful and intriguing isn't it? You can see more of her work here

So, my "Real Men" project has been semi-replaced by the Gender Photo Project, because I kept meeting women and genderqueer people who loved the idea and wanted to participate. They all have something uniquely theirs to say. For example this lovely genderqueer, Novice Sister Frankly Trueself. If you'd like to learn more about this sacred clown and others like her, visit www.azsisters.org

If you want to participate in my gender photo project, please let me know! I can be reached at smbryceart at yahoo.com

My Blog

Just joined tribe.net thinking perhaps I could find some kindred spirits here. Looking for artist communities to join, as well as groups related to the books , "The Artist's Way" and "Faery Oracle" by Brian Froud/Jessa Macbeth.

Really happy with how my artistic creations are going and how my general growth with The Artist's Way has gone so far! Since challenging myself to step out of my boxes and give myself time to be creative so much has happened. I was still having a very difficult time... read more
