Fire! Fire! Fire!
Thu, July 10, 2008 - 5:01 PMBut there were fire dancers and firewhips and fire everywhere and huge tesla coils. Also a flamenco group and a rock band that were ok. And trapeeze artists. I think I just want to run away and be a carney :-p. Also I fell in love (again) with the UNMATA belly dance group. I've seen them before but I'd forgotten how much I really liked them.
Here's part of their show:

It makes me want to pick up belly dancing again (though I doubt I'll ever be at their level).
I definately had the wide eyed kid in the candy store look last night.

Wow...
I just checked out the Crucible website. If I hadn't spend so much money last weekend, I'd be there today.

I heart the crucible. I love going to their performances (the Fire Arts festival and the Fire Ballet). They are a little too far to take classes at after work but their weekend intensive classes are good. I took stiltwalking there and was supposed to take fire breathing (but it was canceled). Other friends of mine have taken welding glass and an "add fire to your art work" class.

The Crucible...
Just another reason on my long list of really good reasons to move back to the bay area!
I'd REALLY like to take the basic flame effects class, as I think I may be doing a fire related project sometime next year. I do fire breathing, but only on special occasions now since I like my beard and don't like second degree burns on my face. I'm hoping to get some more poi practice, I don't think I'm quite ready to go with fiery ones yet, though I saw some I liked at LIB. |
