about me
I have made my home in many different places both in the UK and abroad, often staying only around three years (sometimes less) before moving on to my next home. In 1991 I moved to my current, lovely home, which is surrounded by fields and woods, where I take pleasure in seeing the wildlife going about its daily business undisturbed.
I am happy to have had the opportunity to live in foreign lands and get to know different peoples and customs, and see for myself the countryside and wildlife there. In spite of all this travelling I have been lucky enough to share my life with my dogs – such wonderful companions. I was taught ballet at an early age and this undoubtedly contributed to my love of most kinds of dancing. I first saw belly dancing in Cairo way back in the ‘60s and was fascinated. However, it was not until 2000 that I finally found both time and opportunity to learn to do it. Some years later I went to Ford Castle for the first Tribal Ford and realised that this ATS style of dance, more than any other, was the one for me to learn. I have a long way to go to reach anything like decent style and mastery of the steps and cues, but am very much enjoying the journey. Taiji is my other love and I use it to both keep fit and relax. I find it a challenge attempting to master the slow, coordinated movements and keep them flowing smoothly. More recently I have discovered just how much you can learn from teaching others and hope that my enthusiasm is infectious and my students learn to enjoy it as much as I do. It is certainly a pleasure to teach.
