I used to be mistaken for Raines at conventions--fortunately, I worked with him at BMUG so I'd know what direction to point people in! (Handy to have a double who also happens to be a friend!) Raines, every convention their is some guy on an escalator shouting "Raines! Raines!" at me as I stroll by.
Raines is a bipedal Tribe.net! He's always trying to make it happen before we know what is happening.
Raines, I owe you big time. Thank you for your friendship and I hope we'll be making it happen into the future and beyond!

Raines is remarkable. Ubiquitous yet subtle, his quiet manner distracts the casual observer from the size of his shadow.

I've known Raines Cohen off and on since the BBS days of BMUG in the mid-80's. He has always been an activist who practices what he preaches, and has been a great resource for people references and ideas on various topics ranging from the Macintosh to co-housing.

Raines rocks in the truest sense of the word, and I'm not saying that because he let reporters use his IP phone on the playa.
