And So It Begins...
Tomorrow, to the airport! Not too late to come to the Zafira hafla, people!
:) :) :)
Fire Fun!
Well, we finally pulled out finger out and managed to grab somebody's video footage of Bodhaia Tribal dancing! We're only playing around at friend's party, but we still had fun playing with palm flames!!!All credit to Sam Riggs for our fire obsession, and to Haven and Gina for their amazing palm flame tuition they gave me in Az. Hopefully we'll get the fire torture on video soon, too! Mwahahahahahahaah :)

Skirt Workshop - Improvisational Tribal Fusion
It's finally organised! After the success of the sword workshop last month, and because everybody *keeps* asking, I will be holding a skirt workshop at the end of this month.IMPROVISATIONAL SKIRT
SUNDAY 24 FEBRUARY, 3.30pm - 6pm, South Kilworth Village Hall
More information on my BellyNut Tribal, and on www.bodhaiatribal.co.uk
£15/£12 (enrolled class students)
More Classes. More Events. More Performances. More Members
Phew, 2008 is already busy:There are new dancers with Bodhaia Tribal - addicted, obsessive gals so be prepared to see us around more! Starting with a charity hafla in Hitchin at the end of the month. We'll be at Shangri-La too, so it'll be good to see everybody around more. We all come from different backgrounds now including contemporary and Ceroc, so we're hoping to add some tasty new flavours to the improv vocab!
I've got a new evening ATS class starting in Cambridge this month, and have decided to cave-in to the comments and will be starting a purely improvisational skirt dancing class on Tuesday lunchtimes too.
I'm also going to start my own 6-8 weekly workshops in different improv styles, beginning with sword next weekend.
Finally, the international events are hotting up. I'm just waiting for final confirmation but the next big troupe will be here in May, and those who loved Domba will love these!
Hope everybody is doing okay?
UNMATA - New Workshop Description
I *finally* have the workshop description for the second workshop next weekend in Leicestershire:GAME PLAY
ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES FOR A BORING DANCE CLASS
The first 1/2 of this workshop will introduce you to 5 dance and movement games designed to get you out of your box and quite possibly into somebody elses! The second 1/2 of the workshop will feature a short choreography full of fast and fun. And once we get it down we will add a special little twist. Come prepared to laugh and have a good time!
If you'd like to come along to learn with these amazing girls while they're in Leicestershire, you can do for just £25. Email me enquiries@bodhaiatribal.co.uk
Thanks
Nicola
All Change!
Yes, I've fallen off the Tribe.net world lately. Things have been happening that are filling my life to saturation point! The main news is that I've moved! I've relocated my family and job to Cambridge, and am teaching new classes in ATS, and new fusion classes and workshops are on the horizon for once the ATS-ers are up to speed. There is a lovely community here, and they've made me feel really welcome. The classes in Leics are still going strong, and I'm busy grooming new performers :)
After much umming and ahhing I've decided to close down my bazaar, at least for the time being, as I'm now working for a children's charity full time. Rest assured the BELLYNUT EVENTS WILL CONTINUE, starting with UNMATA in December of course. My sewing will be saved for some funky Bodhaia Tribal troupe costumes!
Of course, in true Nicola tradition, adventures have come my way and I had a rather nasty car crash, and ended up in hospital strapped down having neck and spine x-rays *sigh*. But the good news is I'm alive!
I'm sure I've missed out on tonnes of exciting stuff... fill me in, people!
That Went Well
The first class in Cambridge, that is. 14 people turned up, which I was surprised at, particularly considering I usually limit my classes to 12!A couple of girls had taken an ATS workshop or two with me, and a couple of them (literally 2) had seen Rachel Brice and a few others... I was *amazed*! They were great! So in time. One of my studens came along with me to assist, and we did at least two lessons' worth of material in the one class.
I'm really looking forward to seeing who/how many love it enough to take on its philosophy, too. :)
New Class Itches
My new classes start in Cambridge tomorrow! I'm so excited! The people I've been in touch with from there are all so lovely, and I can't wait to start finding/building a community there.A few girls from my class community here in Leicestershire are coming along, too, so they will be able to get a feel of what it's like.
I'm pleased I chose to start the classes in the University holidays. I want the class to get a certain 'feel' about it before term starts again. :)
Mnyeerrrgh!
Or however else you spell that sort of sound. The sort of sound you make after you've had a week like I have!
Several days ago I found out my 7 year old nephew had been rushed into hospital in a coma after suffering continual seizures, and was on a ventilator.
He's finally....finally.... okay.
When something like this happens, when such a special part of life could almost end, it makes so much else of life stop. But I tell you what, it's only the trivial stuff that stops. It really sorts out priorities...sorts out the important stuff from the fluff!
I have a PC again!
At last, my PC is fixed! The night before I went to Arizona (several weeks ago!) all of the USB ports on my PC died :( That meant no printer, no mouse....damn if I could remember Windows keyboard commands! So, it has finally just been fixed. Now to tackle the backlog - write-up of Throwdown *BIG grin*, write-up of trip, update the website, promote the workshops, promote the new classes, tie-up UNMATA ..GIG people, UNMATA GIG (!), and lots more..... yikes!
Hope everybody's been having fun in the meantime??
