Are We Crazy?

Yoninah and I ran over three miles on Sunday outside, a course I plotted out in my neighborhood. We started out walking a little and then started running. After about a block, we looked at each other and said, "WHAT ARE WE THINKING?" Running outside is 100 TIMES HARDER than running on a treadmill, we agreed. Why didn't anyone tell us this? So we were feeling just a little unprepared for the Race for the Cure coming up this Sunday. By the time we got home, though, we were feeling better about it. We had to walk some, but with the wind, I guess we just have to say there's no shame in that.

I ran today again. There was less wind, and I ran slower, and not quite as far, so I was able to run the whole way and not walk. My legs were tired, but I wasn't too tired, more energized. Now, of course, five hours later, I'm VERY tired.

Yoninah is sick now this week, and I counseled her not to run anymore but just to rest, that she would be fine on Sunday. She's in very good shape, and I believe she'll be fine, if she's healthy by Sunday.

Hey there...I'm feeling a whole lot better today. I'm considering going out tonight and doing just a light jog. But, I looked up Palmer Lake on the internet and it says that the whole loop around is exactly 3.1 miles. Coincidence? I think not.... :-D

Race for the Cure
My husband and two kids did this one 2 years ago. Don't worry about running. It's so crowded you'll be lucky to even jog. They separate the runners from the walkers by starting at different times, but people are walking during the running part because it fits their schedules better. VAST CROWDS. Dale vowed never to do this one again. I just donate something to Caribou. They have a new Susan Komen Caribou card. As you use it they will donate 1% of what you spend to THE CURE.

Good luck to you both on Sunday. Shouldn't be too bad weather-wise.

By the way, I'd be interested in learning to run. I can walk 4.5 mph for about a 5K, but I've never been able to run it well.

Very interesting. Well, if the crowd is too big for us to run, I guess we won't be done by 8:00 like I thought. I am VERY GLAD I didn't know this further ahead than this. We've been working hard to prepare, and I'm not sure I would have worked so hard if I had known we couldn't run anyway.
