Money as Debt by Paul Grignon, 47 min.

What do Presidents John F. Kennedy, James Garfield
and Abraham Lincoln, and Congressman Louis McFadden
all have in common?

They all believed in the necessity of
dismantling what has evolved into what is
now known as the Federal Reserve Banking System
("The Fed")

They were unique in that they all had the
understanding and power to act on their
beliefs, but never got the chance to because
they were assassinated before got the chance.

What's the big deal about the Fed?

For starters, it's not, contrary to
popular belief, a part of the government.

It's privately owned...which means the
United States does not control its
own money supply.

Strange but true.

The Fed was created around the same time
that the US adopted such charming practices
as taxing the income of working people
and conscripting its citizens against
their will to fight and die in overseas
wars.

Who really rules America? It's not who
you think.

WORDS OF WISDOM

"Cowardice asks the question: Is it Safe?
Expediency asks the question: Is it politic?
Vanity asks the question: Is it popular?

But conscience asks the question: Is it Right?

And there comes a time one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular -- but one must take it simply because it is right."

First Actions Are Being Reviewed

Advisers to President-elect Barack Obama "are quietly crafting a proposal to ship dozens, if not hundreds, of imprisoned terrorism suspects to the
United States to face criminal trials." The plan would make good on Obama's promise to close the Guantanamo Bay prison,
but could require the "creation of a controversial new system of justice."

It's time to get to work. In the weeks and months ahead, we have a huge opportunity to restore America's commitment to justice and the rule of law
and to once again be a nation we can be proud of.
As freedom-loving people, we can convince Barack Obama to act on the first day of his presidency -- with the stroke of his pen -- to restore
America's moral leadership in the world and make clear right from the start that our new administration will be faithful to the Constitution.

With the January 20th executive order, President Obama can close Guantánamo Bay, shut down unconstitutional military commissions, and
ban torture -- as long as he listens to himself and to our pleas."

************************************************************************
President Obama doesn't come equipped with a magic wand.

The kind of work we've been doing the last four years becomes even more imperative.
Some of it becomes easier, because there are fewer barriers to success. Some of it becomes harder, because now we have to deliver on our promises.
So, let’s start by joining with the National Day of Service efforts sponsored by President Obama's USA Service organization,
focusing on the national Homeless Census.
Find out how to volunteer but not displace a homeless person trying to earn a few dollars in your community, and find out how many ways you can join in to help our homeless. Like most of the homeless scattered throughout our communities, they are not as visible as they are on the sidewalks of Skid Row and Venice Beach, but they are just as cold, hungry and
in need of an opportunity to live in dignity.

On any given night in Los Angeles County, 73,000 people are homeless. This is a conservative estimate. Other data shows over 90,000.
Over 10,000 are children under the age of 18. Almost 8,500 are veterans!!! There's no doubt: these statistics are disturbing.
Yet, knowing the numbers is a crucial tool in our work to end homelessness. But how do we know these numbers? Where do they come from?
Data is collected by volunteers. Donate time to help end homelessness.

Democracy Needs You!!

Dear Friends of Peace, Justice and a Sustainable American Way of Life,

Democracy Needs You Now! You can watch segments from the San Francisco Green Party Presidential "Debate," indexed to links below, by the issues that are relevant to you. Now is the time to review the issues of our day, and get involved in some capacity with making your childrens' future sustainable, and an egalitarian planet a reality.

Heroic Georgia Congresswoman, Cynthia McKinney, makes a strong plea for unity within the progressive communities in the "Greens Unite Progressives" segment. McKinney's moral compass and integrity led the Democrat Party to purge her, leaving no choice for her clearly political future but with the Greens and independents. I hope you will honor the stand she took in Congress, her strength, courage and attempts to build a grassroots movement.
Please watch at least the first three videoclips to find hope for a sustainable future.

We must channel our efforts into the kind of movement that has been successful in the past in our country. A movement that unites us all, regardless of the labels usually used to divide us. We the people need to become involved in our government and country in some capacity.

There is room for everyone in this movement. The next election is in two years. I shudder to think how our country will end up if we fail to act.

WHAT THEY ARE TRYING 2 DO 2 R INTERNET

S.1959
Title: "A bill to establish the National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism, and for other purposes."
This bill states that "The Internet has aided in facilitating violent radicalization, ideologically based violence, and the homegrown terrorism process in the United States by providing access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda to United States citizens."

Thanks to Greg Collins for the following research:
On Tuesday, November 6, 2007, a House Homeland Security Subcommittee had a hearing on "Using the Web as a Weapon: the Internet as a Tool for Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism". The hearing featured presentations from several groups, including a former employee of the RAND Corporation [Bruce Hoffman], and Mark Weitzman of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. The hearing was chaired by Democratic Rep. Jane Harman, and ranking Republican, Rep. Dave Reichert.

Toward the end of the hearing, Weitzman rolled out a PowerPoint presentation that presents a few 9/11 truth sites sandwiched in between websites that offer training in terrorist tactics, and a website that glorified the attack of 9/11. Among the websites presented under the heading "Internet: Incubator of 9/11 Conspiracies and Disinformation", are Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth.

Sponsor: Sen Collins, Susan M. [ME] (introduced 8/2/2007); Cosponsors (1) Sen Coleman, Norm [MN] - 8/2/2007
Latest Major Action: 8/2/2007, Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

Members of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, 110th Congress:

NOT--SO--FUNNY TAX POEM

This "poem" has been around for years, but no one has mentioned the cause of the entire "Tax System" that coincides
with the illegal/unlawful passage of the Federal Reserve Act on December 23, 1913. Rothschild agent-shyster Ben S. Bernanke
currently runs the "most elaborate con/scam/swindle/boondoggle in American history" as the private "FED Chairman"!!!

The Tax Poem -- [ At first I thought this was funny...THEN I realized the awful truth of it. Be sure to read all the way to the end.
It Isn't Funny anymore...]

Tax his land, Tax his bed,
Tax the table at which he's fed.
Tax his tractor, Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes are the rule.
Tax his work, Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts anyway!

Tax his cow, Tax his goat,
Tax his pants, tax his coat.
Tax his ties, Tax his shirt,
Tax his work, Tax his dirt.
Tax his tobacco, Tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.

Tax his cigars, Tax his beers,
If he cries tax his tears.
Tax his car, Tax his gas,
Find other ways to tax his ass.
Tax all he has then let him know
That you won't be done till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers; then tax him some more,
Tax him till he's good and sore.
Then tax his coffin, Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he's laid.
Put these words Upon his tomb,
'Taxes drove me to my doom...'

When he's gone, do not relax,
Its time to apply the inheritance tax.

THE TAXES WE PAY:

Accounts Receivable Tax

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middleclass in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What happened? Can you spell 'politicians?' Can You Spell: Zionist Private Federal Reserve Banking System?

QUOTES ON PRIVATE CENTRAL BANKING

"Let me issue and control a nation's money and I care not who writes the laws."--Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild (1744-1812), founder of the private International Banking House of Rothschild.
"The modern banking system manufactures money out of nothing. The process is perhaps the most astounding piece of sleight of hand that was ever invented. Banking was conceived in inequity and born in sin. Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them but leave them the power to create money, and with a flick of a pen, they will create enough money to buy it back again. Take this great power away from them and all great fortunes like mine will disappear, for then this would be a better and happier world to live in. But if you want to continue to be the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, then let bankers continue to create money and control credit."--Sir Josiah Stamp, president of the Rothschild Bank of England and the second richest man in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Britain in the 1920s, speaking at the University of Texas in 1927.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and the corporations that will grow up around them, will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."--Thomas Jefferson in the debate over his opposition to the Re-charter of the Private Bank Bill (1809).

"I sincerely believe that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies..."--Thomas Jefferson to John Taylor, 1816.

"The Federal Reserve banks are one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever seen. There is not a man within the sound of my voice who does not know that this nation is run by the International Bankers.--Congressman Louis T. McFadden (Rep. Pa)

"The few who understand the system will either be so interested in its profits or be so dependent upon its favours that there will be no opposition from that class, while on the other hand, the great body of people, mentally incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system, will bear its burdens without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests."--The Rothschild brothers of London writing to associates in New York, 1863, laying the groundwork for the eventual passage of their catastrophic Federal Reserve Act on December 23, 1913

"... You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the grace of the Eternal God, I will rout you out."--President Andrew Jackson, upon evicting a delegation of International Bankers from the Oval Office

"The real truth of the matter is, and you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government of the U.S. since the days of Andrew Jackson. History depicts Andrew Jackson as the last truly honorable and incorruptible American president."--President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, November 23, 1933 in a letter to Colonel Edward Mandell House

"We have, in this country, one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever known. I refer to the Federal Reserve Board. This evil institution has impoverished the people of the United States and has practically bankrupted our government. It has done this through the corrupt practices of the moneyed vultures who control it."--Congressman Louis T. McFadden in 1932

"It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."--Henry Ford inventor and founder of the Ford Motor Company.

"Some [most] people think the Federal Reserve Banks are U.S. government institutions. They are not ... they are private credit monopolies which prey upon the people of the U.S. for the benefit of themselves and their foreign and domestic swindlers, and rich and predatory money lenders. The sack of the United States by the Fed is the greatest crime in history. Every effort has been made by the Fed to conceal its powers, but the truth is the Fed has usurped the government. It controls everything here and it controls all our foreign relations. It makes and breaks governments at will."--Congressional Record 12595-12603 -- Louis T. McFadden, Chairman of the Committee on Banking and Currency (12 years) June 10, 1932

"History records that the money changers have used every form of abuse, intrigue, deceit, and violent means possible to maintain their control over governments by controlling money and its issuance."--President James Madison

"... we conclude that the [Federal] Reserve Banks are not federal ... but are independent, privately owned and locally controlled corporations ... without day-to-day direction from the federal government.."--9th Circuit Court in Lewis vs. United States, 680 F. 2d 1239 June 24, 1982

"People [private Federal Reserve Corporation stockholders] who will not turn a shovel full of dirt on the project (Muscle Shoals Dam) nor contribute a pound of material, will collect more money [usury] from the United States than will the People who supply all the material and do all the work. This is the terrible thing about interest ...But here is the point: If the Nation can issue a dollar bond, it can issue a dollar bill [U.S. Note]. The element that makes the bond good makes the bill good also. The difference between the bond and the bill is that the bond lets the money broker collect twice the amount of the bond and an additional 20%. Whereas the currency, the honest sort provided by the Constitution pays nobody but those who contribute in some useful way. It is absurd to say our Country can issue bonds and cannot issue currency. Both are promises to pay, but one [Federal Reserve Notes] fattens the usurer and the other [U.S. Notes] helps the People. If the currency issued by the People were no good, then the bonds would be no good, either. It is a terrible situation when the Government, to insure the National Wealth, must go in debt and submit to ruinous interest charges at the hands of men [International Bankers] who control the fictitious value of gold. Interest is the invention of Satan".--Thomas A. Edison

On 9/10/01 the Bush Administration announced that the Pentagon had "misplaced" $2.3 trillion.
Then they spent $3 trillion (or more) on the "War on Terror" including the disaster in Iraq.
Now, as they're heading out the door, they've instructed the Fed to throw another few trillion on the fire.
Is anyone keep track? This is starting to add up to real money.

What does the Democratic Party stand 4?

As Art Torres was graciously acknowledging your voice, long-time CDP spokesman Bob Mulholland desperately attempted to silence it. On the eve of the meeting, Mulholland insulted netroots bloggers as "fringe" and grassroots activists as "pre-nursing home" in an interview with the Guardian UK.
It gets worse. Frustrated with an effort by Executive Board members to formally debate the censure during the general session, Mulholland then blocked one of the Courage Campaign cameras filming the meeting (click below to watch this surprising turn of events on the YouTube video just posted).
Finally, commenting on the censure movement , Mulholland told the Los Angeles Daily News that "Dianne Feinstein has been the Democratic Party for years."
Wow. And here we thought the Democratic Party was supposed to be the party of the people, not just its most powerful politician. It does prompt an interesting question, however: What does the Democratic Party stand for -- and why aren't leaders like Senator Feinstein standing up for it?

9/11 and how time does not heal all wounds
I've been watching MSNBC all night - they're rerunning their original coverage of the 9/11 disaster. I'm crying non-stop here tonight. I didn't cry when it happened - I was so in shock it took days, years, for the tragedy to register. But tonight, with the safety of time and distance, I just can't hold back the sorrow anymore.

I'm especially sad for all those wonderful rescue workers - those who willing risked their lives to help others, who had to pay a horrific price for their kindness. It's just unthinkable.
In this moment I don't care who is responsible. I'm just so very sad for all who lost their lives I can't think past that.
I'm also grieving the 600,000+ Iraqis who did nothing to us, who have been scapegoated for this crime. Imagine 9/11 happening every day of your life. Every day, another landmark disappears before your eyes. Every day, another person you know disappears forever from this planet. Every day, the moans of those hit by gunfire or bombs haunt your dreams. I'm only reliving this now, many years after the event. But the Iraqis have to live with this horror every day of their lives. AND THEY DID NOTHING TO US.
President Bush should be impeached. Vice President Cheney should be impeached. Gonzales should have to suffer the torture he approved. And General Betrayus (it's spelled Petraeus) should speak to the Congress UNDER OATH, for a change, and give us the real story of what's going on in Iraq. I heard that he admitted he can't tell if our actions in Iraq are making us any safer. DUH!!! OF COURSE THEY ARE NOT!!! When we attack the innocent and protect the guilty, who in their right mind on this planet would support us?
I'm sad that this country is digging its own grave, and so few seem to notice. Habeus corpus is gone. NSA spying is unchallenged. Rights are disappearing right and left, and our vote is under seige from all quarters. And I'm expected to just go about my life and be cheery and act like none of this affects me???
I'm sad for all the deaths of the many due to the avarice of a few. That's a theme that is not limited to 9/11, but echoes throughout history.

What keeps me going are people like Kathy Dopp, whose letter to the editor should appear in the Washington Post in the next day or two; the people at NRDC who wage an unending battle to protect wild places from unnatural exploitation by private interests; the people at the ACLU and other organizations who want to protect your constitutional rights. How sad that they need to be protected at all, and how sad that they are so vilified for doing that. I thank God for unions, which protect those who put food on our tables, who clean the halls we walk in, who throw out our garbage, who prepare our food, who take care of us in hospitals, who work below the radar to keep us going. And God bless all the activists, who live without couches or creature comforts because they love the rest of us so much they sacrifice wordly needs for the benefit of humanity.
The lessons of 9/11 are many. If we can learn even a few, we'll be so much better off. But that's all in the future.
Tonight, and I simply grieving, deeply, for so much needless loss of life, all over the planet, across all of history.

LETTER TO PACIFICA NEWS DEPT.

Apr 28, 2008, at 8:38 AM:
It seems as though fortress Pacifica was able to withstand the impact of this bombshell from the intrepid Zbigniew Brzezinski. Though this story is from February of 2007, I am not aware that it was reported on in any significant way on any Pacifica program that I listen to. The only reference I can find to him on Democracy Now is when he was mentioned as an advisor to Obama.

A political bombshell from Zbigniew Brzezinski Ex-national security adviser warns that Bush is seeking a pretext to attack Iran
By Barry Grey in Washington DC, 2 February 2007
www.wsws.org/articles/20...02_prn.shtml

Testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday, Zbigniew Brzezinski, the national security adviser in the Carter administration, delivered a scathing critique of the war in Iraq and
warned that the Bush administration's policy was leading inevitably to a war with Iran, with incalculable consequences for US imperialism in the Middle East and internationally. Most stunning and disturbing was his description of a "plausible scenario for a military collision with Iran." It would, he suggested, involve "Iraqi failure to meet the benchmarks, followed by accusations of Iranian responsibility for the failure, then by some provocation in Iraq or a terrorist act in the US blamed on Iran, culminating in a 'defensive' US military action against Iran that plunges a lonely
America into a spreading and deepening quagmire eventually ranging across Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan."

The blue dog Democrats oppose bringing the war funding bill to the floor because they oppose additional benfits for our troops! If the anti-war Democrats join them along with the Republicans maybe they can keep this hideous bill from coming to the floor period. That is our only hope to stop this war. Once the bill gets to the floor it will pass in one form or another. More money will flow to the war profiteers and more blood will flow in the streets. Sadr City is under seige. Civilians are being evacuated.

If you haven't been listening to or watching Democracy Now you must start today. It is on your computer at www.democracynow.org, on KPFK 90.7 at 6 and 9AM. If you are not a sustaining member of PDA please go to www.pdamerica.org and sign up now and help elect progressive anti-war members to Congress. Remember, Democracy is not a passive system of government. Those who act have the power. We sat back during the Clinton years - or at least I did - and thought we had a Democrat in the White House. Wrong! Clinton was sowing the seeds of the crisis we reap now - the war, the financial meltdown and the growing food shortages. Act now!!!
202-244-3121 -- Urge Your Congress Member to oppose Pelosi's 3-Pronged war funding bill. A vote for any one part of this bill is a vote for war. PDLA will publish the names of all who vote for war (any of the three pieces) and the names of the brave ones who resist the Democratic Party leadership's betrayal.

who wants to share their thoughts about KPFK? who has concerns about what is happening at KPFK ?
who cares about the lack of transparency at KPFK? who wants to know how KPFK functions or dysfunctions in the real world ? who knows how to reach the Board LSB directly ? who has a good suggestion that has been ignored or unheard by station management? who wants to help make KPFK what it claims it is, but is not ...yet ?
who has attempted to communicate with KPFK but been ignored? who has volunteered and found the functioning at station not effective or efficient ? and so did not return to volunteer at KPFK again ?

Nuclear energy is NOT clean energy.

It poisons the earth. Please make this call. All the candidates support nuclear power. We need to stop this now if we can!!!
PDLA's Bruce Campbell alerted us to this Lieberman-Warner bill that would set aside more taxpayer money to develop nuclear power plants, speed up approval for Yucca Mtn., and restrict public input on nuclear licensing. Urge your senator to say NO to reviving the nuclear power industry with subsidies in the Warner-Lieberman bill. Call 202-224-3121.

SENATE CLIMATE CHANGE BILL COULD GIVE BILLIONS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS TO THE NUCLEAR POWER INDUSTRY

YOUR CALLS NOW CAN STOP THIS, AND HELP PAVE THE WAY FOR CLEAN, SAFE AND AFFORDABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE CLIMATE CRISIS

May 12, 2008 Dear Friends: The Lieberman-Warner climate change bill is slated to come to the Senate floor the week of June 2-6, 2008. Without even explicitly mentioning nuclear power, the bill would be the largest giveaway to the nuclear power industry ever—some $500 billion worth. And if that weren’t enough, we expect one or more amendments to be submitted to give even more billions of taxpayer dollars to the nuclear industry; further reduce public participation in nuclear issues; and speed the development of new radioactive waste sites over public opposition. We need to stop this nuclear nonsense, and your voices need to be heard. Even our friends in the Senate, like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), say they are not receiving enough phone calls on this issue. They, and we, are urging you to call your senators now and demand that they oppose any nuclear provisions or amendments to the Lieberman-Warner bill. Your calls are especially important because the nuclear industry is actively lobbying to obtain more taxpayer dollars, and they have far more resources to do so than the environmental movement. Please call your Senators today: Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121. And activate e-mail lists, phone trees, myspace and facebook sites, and any other networks you have. We need to get as many of your voices to the Senate as possible. Some background information on the Lieberman-Warner bill, and some of the nuclear provisions now being talked about, is below. First, we all know that election campaigns take huge sums of money, and we know that many of you have been contributing to your candidates this year. But issue campaigns, like this one, require resources too. After you’ve called your Senators, please consider making an extra $30 donation (or $300 or $3,000, if you can!)—in honor of NIRS’ 30th anniversary this year—on our secure website here. Background information on Lieberman-Warner Bill (S. 2191) According to an aide to Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT), the Lieberman-Warner climate change bill scheduled to be debated on the Senate floor during the first week of June “would be the most historic incentive for nuclear in the history of the United States ." The cap-and-trade carbon emissions system that the bill would establish would both make utility investments in carbon-emitting technologies like coal and gas less economically competitive by putting a price on carbon, and would also create a fund—totaling as much as $500 Billion over the next four decades—that could be used for nuclear power investment. There are many problems with the proposed legislation, not the least of which is that its emissions reductions targets fall far short of what science now says is necessary to avoid a climate catastrophe. In fact, the global carbon emissions reduction of 80% by 2050 called for by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Global Climate Change translates into a 95% reduction in U.S. emissions—or essentially a carbon-free energy economy. But at best, the Lieberman-Warner bill would reduce emissions about 60-70% by 2050, and perhaps not even that much. Nuclear amendments that have been discussed on Capitol Hill may include some, or even all, of the following: *more money for taxpayer loan guarantees for new reactors*more money for “risk” insurance if reactors are delayed because of interventions or other licensing problems*establishment of “interim” storage sites for high-level radioactive waste*speed-up of Yucca Mountain licensing*further restrictions on public participation in reactor licensing*money for training nuclear engineers*money for training skilled workers (like welders)*money for security guards and improvements*money for Hardened On-Site Storage*money to build new factories to manufacture large reactor components*money for new transmission lines*money for transformers We need safe, clean, fast and affordable solutions to the climate crisis. Nuclear power meets none of those criteria. Your actions now can make a real difference! Please call your Senators today: 202-224-3121, and alert your colleagues, co-workers, church groups, PTAs, and all of your friends and ask them to call too! And please call both of your senators no matter where you think they may stand on the issue: we need to create a better sense in the Senate that people care about this issue. Thank you for all you do. Together, we can stop the nuclear industry’s misguided notion that climate change legislation is their opportunity to have an atomic Christmas in June! As always, if you have questions or comments, don’t hesitate to contact us. Michael MariotteExecutive DirectorNuclear Information and Resource Servicenirsnet@nirs.orgwww.nirs.org/301-270-6477

Propaganda train called Iraq Body Count

A propaganda train called Iraq Body Count (& friends)
By Gabriele Zamparini

...The Weekly Standard, the voice of the Neo-Con in Washington and whose Editor, William Kristol, is also Chairman of the Project for the New American Century, has published this brilliant endorsement of Iraq Body Count... IBC is actively helping the Bush junta to carry on this genocidal carnage because it actively helps the huge propaganda campaign aimed at making people ignore the scale of that carnage... One million plus Iraqi deaths later, there are still "plenty of estimates out there" and her job and the job of UFPJ seems to be to confuse the public and conceal the truth. Two scientific studies conducted by the world leaders in the field of epidemiology and published as peer-reviewed scientific papers in the world's leading medical journal. Articles, e-mails, debates, alerts... and large and important sectors of this so-called anti-war movement are still hiding the real extent of the Iraq genocide. Is there a word for this shame?....

I thought you might be interested in this Courage Campaign petition I just signed, asking Speaker Pelosi to support legislation effectively banning Blackwater from Iraq. We need to stop Blackwater before they use their mercenary profits from Iraq to try again to set up a base of operations in San Diego just three blocks from the Mexican border.

If we can convince Speaker Pelosi to stop Blackwater from privatizing national security with our tax dollars, it could be the beginning of the end for Blackwater in Iraq. And California.

Please join me in asking Speaker Pelosi -- California's most powerful member of Congress -- to take leadership by supporting the "Stop Outsourcing Security Act" as soon as possible.

Impeachment is Patriotic, Constitutional

Support H. Res. 799, the Articles of Impeachment, sign the petition:
impeachcheney.org

The petition to impeach charges that Vice President Cheney:

1. has purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States about a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, and about an alleged relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda to justify the use of the US Armed forces against Iraq in a manner damaging to U.S. national security interests; and
2. has openly threatened aggression against Iran absent any real threat to the U.S., and has done so with the U.S. proven capability to carry out such threats, thus undermining U.S. national security.

Congressman Kucinich has made available more than 45 documents supporting the articles of impeachment at his Congressional website, including at least 15 for each article, madated by our Constitution in such cases.

As of June 29, 2007, including Kucinich, the resolution has *eleven* co-sponsors and growing:
- Congressman William Lacy Clay, Jr., of Missouri
- Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, of Illinois
- Congressman Albert Wynn, of Maryland
- Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, of New York
- Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, of California
- Congresswoman Barbara Lee, of California
- Congresswoman Maxine Waters, of California
- Congressman Keith Ellison, of Minnesota
- Congressman Hank Johnson, of Georgia

Brattleboro, Vermont passes indictment of Bush and Cheney To be arrested in Brattleboro "if they are not duly impeached

The courageous people of Brattleboro, Vermont have taken the lead! Frustrated that elected officials have refused to introduce articles of impeachment in defiance of their constituents' demands, the people of Brattelboro voted to direct town officials to draw up indictment papers against George Bush and Dick Cheney for violating their oath of office.

When Ramsey Clark launched the ImpeachBush / VoteToImpeach.org movement in January 2003 he sparked something entirely new. In the face of the aggression and arrogance of the Bush Administration, he launched a movement for the people to take back the Constitution. In Vermont, more than 40 town councils voted in favor of impeachment. Throughout California and in the other states of the union, the grassroots movement has put impeachment on the table through referendum, resolutions, demonstrations, rallies, newspaper ads and door-to-door petitioning.
In the next two weeks, ImpeachBush.org is joining with the anti-war movement for mass protests around the country, organizing buses, car caravans, printing placards and banners and making sure the call for Impeachment resounds on this coming 5th anniversary of the criminal war in Iraq. These will be locally and regionally coordinated mass actions in cities and towns throughout the country. The movement is spreading because of the commitment and sacrifice of thousands of individuals who are engaged as volunteers in day-to-day organizing. Everyone should be proud of their work because this is a movement that belongs to all of us.

One million people vote to support impeachment of Bush and Cheney! Iraq war is now the second longest war in US history

Get involved! Your help is needed to keep this movement going forward. Here are the things you can do:
1) Attend an anti-war protest today. Go to the ImpeachBush homepage for a listing of events.
2) Make an urgently needed donation to help build the important work of ImpeachBush in the coming year. This is the largest grassroots impeachment effort in U.S. history, but it cannot move forward without help from people like you. Click this link to make your generous donation.
3) Forward this message to anyone who has not yet voted to impeach!"It was the war in Iraq that led to more than one million Americans voting to support the impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney in the largest on-line impeachment survey in US history," stated Ramsey Clark, the former US Attorney General. Clark's announcement about the results of Vote to
Impeach/ImpeachBush.org comes on the fifth anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. Ramsey Clark announced the launch of the impeachment effort at a rally of a half million people on January 18, 2003 on the national mall in Washington DC.
ImpeachBush.org which houses the Vote to Impeach on-line referendum has been visited by millions of people and more than one million have signed the on-line petition or paper petitions that have been circulated door to door in neighborhoods around the country.
"This is the largest grassroots impeachment effort in US history," Clark stated. "Impeachment now will stop the continuing course of
criminal conduct of the Bush Administration, which becomes more dangerous each day. President Bush is working at a frenetic pace to prove in the face of all the facts that his policies are right and heroic." Clark continued, "Impeachment is not a political question. It is a constitutional duty. It is the means by which the people, through their elected representatives, can protect their country from a lawless "President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States" by removing them from office. A failure to act in the face of a persistent, systemic and proudly proclaimed course of criminal conduct can bring the country to ruin."

The Vote to Impeach movement has placed newspaper ads in the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Hartford Courant. It has hundreds of volunteers nationwide, and has helped organize many mass anti-war and pro-mpeachment protests. To see more about the Vote to Impeach movement launched by Ramsey Clark go to ImpeachBush.org

Ramsey Clark, one of the foremost leaders of the US anti-war movement, is available for interviews today, the fifth anniversary of the war in Iraq.

Major article called for impeachment in Washington Post by GEORGE McGOVERN

On the front page of the Outlook section in the Sunday Washington Post (Jan. 6, 2007) is a major article calling for Bush's impeachment written by George McGovern. The demand for accountability and the principled insistence that we must Save the Constitution has mobilized hundreds of thousands of people across the United States.

The fact that the Washington Post has so prominently presented a call for impeachment is a testament to the grassroots movement of the people that has become a force in American politics. Not content to just rotate presidents in and out, we understand that the promise and aspirations of constitutionally guaranteed freedoms, and the hope that the country can live in peace with the world, rest on the people uniting to demand action. More crucial news for anti-racists + vid

Cynthia's take on the latest outrages against our black brothers and sisters.

Let me state from the outset that I am sickened by video footage, available on youtube (www.youtube.com/
watch?v=qiradcejA6o ), of the assault on Reverend Yearwood by the Capitol Hill Police. Nowhere on the internet is the footage available of the press conference I had on the subject of certain Capitol Hill police officers. But at that press conference were black Georgia constituents who told of the utter contempt with which they were treated at the hands of certain Capitol Hill police officers. Kudos to whoever it was in the hallway at the time of Yearwood's incident who had the video or cellphone camera and the smarts to record it all. I understand Reverend Yearwood's leg was broken--all because he wanted to hear Petraeus testify before Congress. But what's more incredible is that according to my friends, there has been absolutely no coverage at all of this incident in what we call the mainstream media and that there have been no--repeat--no Members of Congress to speak out against this travesty. Kudos to Glen Ford of www.blackagendareport.com and Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! for covering this incident. The video will take only 7 minutes of your time, please watch it. Of course, the police charged Reverend Yearwood with a crime, just like in New York, they've charged the Warrens, noted civil rights attorneys, for having the audacity to take down the license plate numbers of NYPD officers involved in beating a young, handcuffed Latino man. I'm also told that in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania another incident, this time involvidng a woman, Diane White, was beaten and maced by cops, after having been pulled away and out of site of the Festival she had organized for neighborhood children. This happens in the midst of two unthinkable incidents: the Jena 6 situation in Louisiana with the imbroglio that has resulted from black teenagers sitting under the "white tree" in the Jena High schoolyard and the situation in West Virginia where a 20-year-old black woman was kidnapped, raped, and tortured amid racial epithets and the Feds decide yesterday that it's not a hate crime! Unarmed blacks and Latinos are attacked and killed in city after city across this country and there is little justice to be found in the courts. It is clear that our country needs a peace and justice movement that brings people from all backgrounds together with a single vision: to make a better U.S.A. for all of us and the world! If people in Haiti and Bolivia, Venezuela and Cuba, Nicaragua and Brazil can do it, I know we can do it, too!

The Thought Police -- Progamming Minds

By Ralph E. Shaffer and R. William Robinson
The Baltimore Sun, November 19, 2007
www.baltimoresun.com/news/op...77.story

With overwhelming bipartisan support, Rep. Jane Harman’s “Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act” passed the House 404-6 late last month and now rests in Sen. Joe Lieberman’s Homeland Security Committee. Swift Senate passage appears certain. Not since the “Patriot Act” of 2001 has any bill so threatened our constitutionally guaranteed rights.
The historian Henry Steele Commager, denouncing President John Adams’ suppression of free speech
in the 1790s, argued that the Bill of Rights wasnot written to protect government from dissenters but to provide a legal means for citizens to oppose a government they didn’t trust. Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence not only proclaimed the right to dissent but declared it a people’s duty, under certain conditions, to alter or abolish their government.
In that vein, diverse groups vigorously oppose Ms. Harman’s effort to stifle dissent. Unfortunately, the mainstream press and leading presidential candidates remain silent.
Ms. Harman, a California Democrat, thinks it likely that the United States will face a native brand of terrorism in the immediate future and offers a plan to deal with ideologically based violence.
But her plan is a greater danger to us than the threats she fears. Her bill tramples constitutional rights by creating a commission with sweeping investigative power and a mandate to propose laws prohibiting whatever the commission labels “homegrown terrorism.”
The proposed commission is a menace through its power to hold hearings, take testimony and administer oaths, an authority granted to even individual members of the commission - little Joe McCarthys - who will tour the country to hold their own private hearings. An aura of authority will automatically accompany this congressionally authorized mandate to expose native terrorism.
Ms. Harman’s proposal includes an absurd attack on the Internet, criticizing it for providing Americans with “access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda,” and legalizes an insidious infiltration of targeted organizations. The misnamed “Center of Excellence,” which would function after the commission is disbanded in 18 months, gives the semblance of intellectual research to what is otherwise the suppression of dissent.
While its purpose is to prevent terrorism, the bill doesn’t criminalize any specific conduct or contain penalties. But the commission’s findings will be cited by those who see a terrorist under every bed and who will demand enactment of criminal penalties that further restrict free speech and other civil liberties. Action contrary to the commission’s findings will be interpreted as a sign of treason at worst or a lack of
patriotism at the least.
While Ms. Harman denies that her proposal creates “thought police,” it defines “homegrown terrorism” as “planned” or “threatened” use of force to coerce the government or the people in the promotion of “political or social objectives.” That means that no force need actually have occurred as long as the government charges that the individual or group thought about doing it.
Any social or economic reform is fair game. Have a march of 100 or 100,000 people to demand a reform - amnesty for illegal immigrants or overturning Roe v. Wade - and someone can perceive that to be a use of force to intimidate the people, courts or government.
The bill defines “violent radicalization” as promoting an “extremist belief system.” But American governments, state and national, have a long history of interpreting radical “belief systems” as inevitably leading to violence to facilitate change.
Examples of the resulting crackdowns on such protests include the conviction and execution of anarchists tied to Chicago’s 1886 Haymarket Riot. Hearings conducted by the House Un-American Activities Committee for several decades during the Cold War and the solo hearings by a member of that committee’s Senate counterpart, Joseph McCarthy, demonstrate the dangers inherent in Ms. Harman’s legislation.
Ms. Harman denies that her bill is a threat to the First Amendment. It clearly states that no measure to prevent homegrown terrorism should violate
“constitutional rights, civil rights or civil liberties.”
But the present administration has demonstrated, in its response to criticism regarding torture, that it can’t be trusted to honor those rights.

Bill Moyers Journal . Transcripts | PBS, May 2, 2008
<www.pbs.org/moyers/journ...nscript.html>
BILL MOYERS: Welcome to the Journal.
I once asked a reporter back from Vietnam, "Who's telling the truth over there?" "Everyone, he said. "Everyone sees what's happening through the lens of their own experience." That's how people see Jeremiah Wright. In my conversation with him on this broadcast a week ago and in his dramatic public appearances since, he revealed himself to be far more complex than the sound bites that propelled him onto the public stage. Over 2000 of you have written me about him, and your opinions vary widely. Some sting: "Jeremiah Wright is nothing more than a race-hustling, American hating radical," one viewer wrote. A "nut case," said another. Others were far more were sympathetic to him.
Many of you have asked for some rational explanation for Wright's transition from reasonable conversation to shocking anger at the National Press Club. A psychologist might pull back some of the layers and see this complicated man more clearly, but I'm not a psychologist. Many black preachers I've known — scholarly, smart, and gentle in person — uncorked fire and brimstone in the pulpit. Of course I've known many white preachers like that, too.
But where I grew up in the south, before the civil rights movement, the pulpit was a safe place for black men to express anger for which they would have been punished anywhere else; a safe place for the fierce thunder of dignity denied, justice delayed. I think I would have been angry if my ancestors had been transported thousands of miles in the hellish hole of a slave ship, then sold at auction, humiliated, whipped, and lynched. Or if my great-great grandfather had been but three-fifths of a person in a constitution that proclaimed, "We the people." Or if my own parents had been subjected to the racial vitriol of Jim Crow, Strom Thurmond, Bull Connor, and Jesse Helms. Even so, the anger of black preachers I've known and heard about and reported on was, for them, very personal and cathartic.
That's not how Jeremiah Wright came across in those sound bites or in his defiant performances this week. What white America is hearing in his most inflammatory words is an attack on the America they cherish and that many of their sons have died for in battle ? forgetting that black Americans have fought and bled beside them, and that Wright himself has a record of honored service in the Navy. Hardly anyone took the "chickens come home to roost" remark to convey the message that intervention in the political battles of other nations is sure to bring retaliation in some form, which is not to justify the particular savagery of 9/11 but to understand that actions have consequences. My friend Bernard Weisberger, the historian, says, yes, people are understandably seething with indignation over Wright's absurd charge that the United States deliberately brought an HIV epidemic into being. But it is a fact, he says, that within living memory the U.S. Public Health Service conducted a study that deliberately deceived black men with syphilis into believing that they were being treated, while actually letting them die for the sake of a scientific test. Does this excuse Wright's anger? His exaggerations or distortions? You'll have to decide or yourself. At least it helps me to understand the why of them.
But in this multimedia age the pulpit isn't only available on Sunday mornings. There's round the clock media — the beast whose hunger is never satisfied, especially for the fast food with emotional content. So the preacher starts with rational discussion and after much prodding throws more and more gasoline on the fire that will eventually consume everything it touches. He had help — people who for their own reasons set out to conflate the man in the pulpit who wasn't running for president with the man in the pew who was.
Behold the double standard: John McCain sought out the endorsement of John Hagee, the war-mongering Catholic-bashing Texas preacher who said the people of New Orleans got what they deserved for their sins. But no one suggests McCain shares Hagee's delusions, or thinks AIDS is God's punishment for homosexuality. Pat Robertson called for the assassination of a foreign head of state and asked God to remove Supreme Court justices, yet he remains a force in the Republican religious right. After 9/11 Jerry Falwell said the attack was God's judgment on America for having been driven out of our schools and the public square, but when McCain goes after the endorsement of the preacher he once condemned as an agent of intolerance, the press gives him a pass.
Jon Stewart recently played a tape from the Nixon White House in which Billy Graham talks in the oval office about how he has friends who are Jewish, but he knows in his heart that they are undermining America. This is crazy; this is wrong -- white preachers are given leeway in politics that others aren't.
Which means it is all about race, isn't it? Wright's offensive opinions and inflammatory appearances are judged differently. He doesn't fire a shot in anger, put a noose around anyone's neck, call for insurrection, or plant a bomb in a church with children in Sunday school. What he does is to speak his mind in a language and style that unsettle some people, and says some things so outlandish and ill-advised that he finally leaves Obama no choice but to end their friendship. We are often exposed us to the corroding acid of the politics of personal destruction, but I've never seen anything like this ? this wrenching break between pastor and parishioner before our very eyes. Both men no doubt will carry the grief to their graves. All the rest of us should hang our heads in shame for letting it come to this in America, where the gluttony of the non-stop media grinder consumes us all and prevents an honest conversation on race. It is the price we are paying for failing to heed the great historian Jacob Burckhardt, who said "beware the terrible simplifiers".

"The master class starts wars; the lower classes fight them. Governments lie. The voice of the government is often not the voice of the people. Speak up. Act out. Silence is complicity. Wake up, the world's on fire! Have a nice day"
