I am director of Raks Benazir, a tribal fusion dance troupe based in Denver, Colorado
www.raksbenazir.com We have many performances under our hip belts at events such as The Colorado Dark Arts Festival, Opus Fantasy Arts Festival, The Tribal Soiree, etc. I have been obsessed with belly dance since 1992 and have been performing since about 1996. My dance background is in Egyptian cabaret style, but I went "tribal" in 2001 when RaksBenazir was born. We recently produced our own show, Beyond the Veil, with Kara Nomadica, Serpent Moon and Tribe Ama'la and it was a great success! Our next event will be a belly dance track in tandem with the Colorado Dark Arts Festival! I also create electronic music with middle eastern and indian elements and recently released my first cd, called Eka (which is a Sanskrit word meaning "one." Finally....he comes to get the rest of his belongings tomorrow morning. Everything is in the garage...he got so abusive & tried to intimidate me and blame me for everything that went wrong. I said, "I want you to move out." He said, "I want to, too." And that, more or less, is how it went, other than his asking if he could stay until the end of July. I said that's fine, but not rent free...I can't afford that any more. So, we'll see how that goes. I am kid-free for 3 weeks, so I can pretty much come & go...avoid the scene if I need to.
