Thanks Monika!
Eight things about me. . .

1. I lived in England for 7 years. Mostly Leeds, but also Birmingham.

2. Last night I missed an interview at an art gallery because I got the date wrong and will have apply all over again, a six month wait. (When I was first given the interview they said the 14th and I just stuck with that even though a later email said the 13th).

3. I don't have any tattoos, just a scar in the shape of a peace sign on my hand that I did with nitric acid in Mr. Avedisian's chemistry class in high school. (It was supposed to be silver nitrate - oops again)!

4. I saw Beck busking in an alley in LA in 1990 or 91. I met him and had a big crush on him.

5. In the belly dance dressing room I won't let anyone see me topless, and yet I always have plumage sprouting from my underwear. Go figure.

6. I have never been to New York.

7. I have synesthesia: to me numbers and some letters have colors.

8. I have always hated the Beach Boys.

I'll make an exception because someone has passed

I just found out the musician Nikki Sudden died - he was 49 and I don't know how it happened, but it was after after a gig in New York last night. He was my favorite singer since 1987, and I thought he was the coolest man on earth. He was like a glam rock dandy Bob Dylan. He and his gang always wore velvet jackets, scarves and brooches and I've always had a spot in my heart for people with that fine style.
We met a few times, and Sean and I worked on the cd art for Treasure Island, which was a frustrating process but I was grateful to get to know him better over the phone (he was British but lived in Berlin). In 2004 Nikki sang happy birthday to me and it made me so happy.
I'm shocked and sad. I can't believe I won't get to see him play again, and am very sorry for his parents, who lost their other son, who was called Epic Soundtracks, in 1997.
That's him on the left in my painting English Boys.
