here's my story: I can remember having vivid and intense dreams since I was about six years old. I often remember most or parts of them after I wake up, so now I've decided to start a written dream blog that chronicles my subconscious journeys. I feel lucky to be a dreamer. Even if many of my dreams morph into scary interactions or full on nightmares, dreaming makes the world a little bit more interesting. After all, a wise man (me) once said "we are what we remember." Who cares if I was actually awake or not, I still had this experience...

So I'll start with the dream I had early this morning...

I was with a small group of friends inside someone's house. Somebody was worried that there might be a ghost in our presence. I was just saying out loud how there definitely were no ghosts amongst us when a ring of smoke floated in front of me.  I heard "oooohs and aaaaahs" coming from those around me and I assumed they were enamored with the magnificent smoke ring that one of my friends had apparently blown my way.  I instinctively pointed my finger up through the middle of the high-contrast ethereal ring as it continued to grow larger before my eyes.

But then the ring wrapped itself tightly around my hand and I felt an intense electrical sensation emanating from the ring.  It dawned on me that I was dealing with a powerful ghost-ring with unfriendly intentions.  I squeezed the ring around my hand and participated in a brief "energy battle" that made me tense.  I was nervous that the ghost was going to harm us somehow.  I squeezed with my hand and the ring slowly dissipated, disappearing into thin air.  But I knew the ghost hadn't given up yet.

I could still sense that the ghost was attempting to "enter" our physical world with negative intentions.  This ghost was out to harm me, or worse yet, it wanted to "take over" my physical body, and eject my soul into the lost realm of ghosts where emptiness and endless disconnect prevail.

The ghost was a form of malignant electric energy and it was now trying to use any type of electronic equipment as a vehicle for interacting with and harming me and/or my friends.  Beware of all electronic equiment I said to the group. I picked up my ipod and hesitated.  I rotated the dial on the front of the ipod, but I knew that I was about to stop on a "ghost track."  I slowly put the headphones over my ears.  I could hear a hollow static-like sound, and electric waves of tension swirled and breathed around my head. This ghost definitely had a few tricks up his sleeve...

...I was still in the midst of fighting off the electric ghost when I woke up, and that's about the extent of my memory of that particular dream right now.  It wasn't a full on nightmare, but I was definitely relieved to wake up and realize I didn't have to continue battling a ghost.  I was a little bit shaken, but not stirred.

So what are the meanings and symbols in this dream? Am I afraid that computers and electronics are taking over my life? Well, I have been spending a lot of time on the computer lately...

And incidently I have had one real waking life experience where I felt like a ghost jumped inside my body, but I think I'll save that for my next blog entry.
