"I do not try to dance better than anyone else, I only try to dance better than myself" ~ Mikhail Baryshnikov
I would never have thought that a trip to Egypt in 2001 and lessons with the hotel's bellydancer would have brought so many positive things into my life. Back home I found a cabaret class locally and was amazed that I could move my body in ways I never thought possible! Choreography was never really my thing so when I saw my first Tribal performance in 2005, I was entraced by this 'new' cool style!!..I managed to find some amazing ATS teachers in Deana and Sarah of Tribe of Kismet, one class a week very quickly turned into six, along with as many workshops as I could find. I remember being completely blown away the first time I saw FatChanceBellyDance on youtube!..I had the most fantastic time dancing with Sarah & Deana for 3 years before taking my GS in Glastonbury in October 08. Then the time became right to take the next step and teach my own students, so along with my beautiful friend and dance partner Maxine we formed Akula Tribal. 2009 has been a milestone year for me ~ firstly creating Akula in May, becoming an FCBD Teacher in Pori, Finland in August and being granted Sister Studio status on 1st September!...Deana has now gone on to create Tribal Unity, she is still my teacher and I am thrilled to be able to dance with Tribal Unity as well as Akula Tribal ~

I feel blessed to have been taught by some the best teachers in the world and enjoy this beautiful dance with so many wonderful people. If I was to list all of the reasons why I love ATS it would be endless, but if I had to say the most important thing that ATS has given me personally, it would be that it has brought the loveliest people into my life who I may not have met otherwise....
