I just re-watched "The English Patient" a few days ago, and couldn't help getting incredibly sad...-not during the dramatic scenes in the film - but, surprisingly, during those "light", breezy shots of airplanes hovering above the clear desert in warm summer light, or the scenes in the hotel restaurant, of dancing on happy, 40s music, and then, it hit me - life will never slow down from here, and, apart from a few "bohemians", like myself, nobody else seems to even take notice.
