look forward to seeing many of you soon... am going to Joshawa tree music fest this weekend to through some video down for BLVD and Souleye... wishing you all well... much love... TC Purposed Multimedia Art Structure For Lightning In a Bottle 2008 After Hours Ambient Octagon By Merge Multi-Media We propose an eight-sided chill space to be primary used for Acoustic Ambient music from 12:00 mid-night to sunrise. This space would be in accordance with the amplified sound curfew allowing participants to enjoy themselves late into the night in an ambient mode. The eight sides making the octagon shape (from an ariel view) are comprised of 16’ long by 9’ height spandex aluminum video screens. The screens would be elevated at least 7’ off the ground so that the top of the screens would be at 15 feet. The elevation allows performance viewing for all those who wish to sit outside the octagon. The 360° of entrance could also be draped for a more intimate feel. The diameter of the octagon would be approximately 40’. The inside of the structure would have 360° of video shooting from 8 wide screen video projectors clustered in the center. From the outside one could witness ambient video from any angle approached. The stage is planned to be in the center of the structure 3’ off the ground 16’ by 16’ square with a light reactive circular stage in the center of the square 8’ in diameter Off to one side would be a VJ station on a small stage to keep the video mixing gear safe. Gage, Merge Events founder, & Tim Clark, Merge / Entheon Village, would curate the video and engineer the construction of the installation. In addition, Andrew Jones (Massive Black) would be joining us for content creation. We have many ideas of how to make this crystalline shaped structure more organic and ergonomic. We would love to start the dialogue, now that we have proposed the basic form. For how the screens look with video www.flickr.com/photos/159...3305455053/ Mockup below. Note, in the background (right and left) are two of the actual screens We would like to invite some artist that have participated in our three year monthly Ambient Gallery, Project Cathedral, to start the evening off and then open it to various talents attending Lightning In a Bottle. Many of the artist that participated in this Project Cathedral in early 2000 have performed at Lightning In a Bottle (BlueTech, Kim Hagen, Kerri Kresinski, Elijah and Urban Tribal) Below is a description of Project Cathedral. Project Cathedral was a living gallery of discreet music, art, choreography and light experiments through video projections. Conceived in late 1999, was ongoing multimedia experiment has drew together a community of artists from many disciplines with a shared esthetic, which could be characterized as AMBIENT (see Brian Eno's work). Our wide ranging themes draw from the abstract, urban experience, and the patterns & chaos found in nature. One our subject maters in 2003 derived from visit to California's Sequoia National Forest. The experience of the majestic and silent redwoods is used as a point of inspiration for our creations in the cathedral. We are excited by the prospect of participating & collaborating with Lightning In a Bottle on this level. We are confident that we can deliver a beautiful environment as we have experience ranging from producing underground events (since 1997) to full blow art-driven corporate installations. We own virtual all of the basic ingredence to produce the above described After Hours Ambient Octagon environment. However we will need logistical support from LIB. Thank you for your conideration of our proposal. Best Regards. Gage - HYPERLINK "mailto:MergeMultiMedia@gmail.com" MergeMultiMedia@gmail.com cell 619 607 0173
